Hi all.
I've just released my new GX4000 game 'SOH Tactics GX', the file is attached to this post. It is also available from my website at http://www.sohde.co.uk/SOHTacticsGX.html.
The game is a strategy/puzzle game and is superficially a bit like the strategy RPG genre. The name and logo are a play on 'Final Fantasy Tactics Advance'.
The game mechanics are quite straightforward but are worth understanding. I'd suggest reading the instructions but as nobody ever does that I've made a short 'how to play' youtube video :P

On a technical note, I mentioned on here a while ago about emulation problems with the DMA repeat instruction. This is only really noticable on the boss music. No problems on real hardware of course!
If anyone has any questions, needs any tips or finds any bugs, please get in touch.
I hope people consider it a worthy addition to the GX catalogue ;D
Cheers
Looks nice and very different from the other GX games. I'm not a massive turn based strategy fan, but I might have to try and give this a go. It's always nice to see people giving the GX some much needed love though.
Same here - not a fan of the genre but I'll definitely check it out!!
How wonderful!!! An original new new original game for 6128plus and GX4000!!!
Thank's for the best X-MAS present of 2022 and maybe 2023 ;) :) :) :) :)
Wow, that game looks great! I can imagine v2 with multiplayer over the internet support, how many players could you handle? ;) It's the perfect type of game for that.
But really, it looks really really nice - not something i would have expected on the CPC. I would love to see a physical release too.

Thanks very much :D
A multiplayer would be quite easy to implement on paper, passing round a controller though. I wouldn't have the first clue how you'd implement internet connectivity with a GX game ??? The 2-player is actually well worth a go, the strategies can play out a lot differently!
Someone on this forum did very kindly make me up a batch of physical carts for Bears! on a cool board with the logo printed on. I gave them out to friends due to the quantity, I may have some held aside for a rainy day ;) But nothing in the works for this yet, I'd love to though.
In other updates whilst it is bumped, I'm not aware of anyone completing it yet although it's only been out 1.5 weeks and I'd like to think it's a reasonably big game. CPC Power does have the first image I've seen appear for one of the bosses although he possibly hacked it :P Also, Xyphoe is featuring it on his Amstream soon.

Spoke too soon, Amstrad Maniaque has gone and done it :o 8) I'd link the video but I don't want to promote strategy spoilers :-X
Better get started on the first expansion pack then! :D
For the record, I've updated the website (http://sohde.co.uk/SOHTacticsGX.html) with two updated versions of the game for download.
v1.0 - The original release from 27/02/23
v1.1 - This is the official update which simply corrects a typo spotted by
@Xyphoe v1.2 - This version is
not for real hardware and corrects for Winape's miscounting of DMA Repeat instructions. This removes a couple of sound glitches when playing in Winape, most notably in the 'boss music'.
I don't know if putting out an 'emulator version' is a bad idea. It feels a bit wrong but in the end it is how a lot of people play stuff. I've labelled the .cpr file clearly as 'emulator version' to try and avoid too much confusion. Also the version number of the file is contained in the last 5 bytes of the .cpr data.
Thanks for the update... going to download the version for the real 6128plus. :) :) :)
