Thanks Nich/Targhan :)

I'm just wondering whether the 'saved games' from my 3" disk version could be loaded using the game playing the 3.5" version?

I don't have my 3.5" drive yet to test just now, when I'll do I'll borrow the 3.5" copy I gave my mate.

Targhan

Not easily. Though the content is the same, the sector names are different. So copying several sectors from one coy to another of a different format will give a copy error. You could however use Discology to copy/paste the savegame sectors, but it's a boring process. Tell me if you're interested, so that I give you the sectors you need to copy (I need to remember what they are too :).

Or you could use Xexor and simply write the sectors to a file, then read them back to the other sectors.

Hi all,

Orion Prime has now an improved website :
http://www.orion.cpcscene.com

You will find new topics, like Hints for desperate players, and Goodies, in which you'll be able to download the whole soundtrack of the game in OGG format (Yes ! Even the song still not uploaded to the CPC Radio !).

We may come for more if people requests it.

Thanks,
Targhan/Arkos.

Thanks for the suggestions, but I think that's probably a bit beyond me  :P

I think I'll start the game from scratch via emulator using the 3.5" version, I might be able to make a good walkthrough doc and video at some point then.

Great work on the updated site :)

Have you guys contacted Retro Gamer magazine to review the game yet?
I'm sure TMR (Jason) would make this the main game feature in his section.

@Targhan

Man, the Orion Prime OST is absolutely awesome!

Thank you very much! You made us very happy  ;)

I received the latest issue (#83) of Retro Gamer today, and Orion Prime is indeed the main feature in the 'Homebrew' reviews section. It's come a bit late, but better late than never. Find out what Jason thought of it in the spoiler below:

Spoiler: ShowHide
He gave it a rating of 92%! Wahey! :D

Targhan

Thanks for pointing that out, Nicholas. CPC Power! CPC Power!

Hi!

Can anyone give a little hint on how the Primary Pump works? It seems to be beyond my intelligence...  :-[

Thanks!  :)

TFM

I had the same problems, the handbook helps in this case (but I had not time to try it out again)

Well, I read the instructions, and I FINALLY got the Primary Pump working again! Whew!

I also killed the monster, and now I'm looking for the Captain's room. I understand that the answer is to be found in the darkness, but I cannot find anything special! Where should I look?

Sorry, didn't notice this back in November...

Just so people know, there's a couple of months lead in time for my stuff in Retro Gamer so the review was actually written during September - someone sent an email in through the address in the mag when the free version was released, it was passed to Darran and then to me.

i do try to keep an eye on what's happening at these forums (and can i just say you're all very naughty for the pops at the C64, talk about brown envy! =-) but the same is true of Atari Age, Denial, the CSDb, WOS, Retro Remakes, the MSXdev site and far too many RSS feeds to remember, so if there's any new release or in progress project you lot feel i should be aware of, please feel free to drop me a line through the PM system here or at the Retro Gamer forum, through Oldschool Gaming (a few people from the other 8-bit communities bring over release notes from other sites and, since Shaun Bebbington pops by as well, it's a good catch-all to let both of us know at once), by email at jason[dot]kelk[squiggle]gmail[spot]com or on Facebook, whatever works best.

Oh, h'lo and everything since this is a first post. =-)

Gryzor

Hello and welcome then! :)

As far as brown envy goes, I think you'll find that apart from the usual boy-ish trashing there are some real discussions on other machines

robcfg

Aw man, can´t get past that bloody primary pump minigame  :'(

robcfg

Spoiler: ShowHide
I finally got through the primary pump minigame by setting the emulation speed at 50% (which still makes me mad because on a real CPC couldn't do it...).

Now trying to get to the captain's room...

robcfg

Ok, I managed to get my shuttle's energy recharged and it's also being repaired.

Now, I need a little help here:

Spoiler: ShowHide

I think I have to get the captain's card, which I guess is in the reactor, but I cannot get through the door to the reactor.

And I'm trying to solve the collector's maze but I also can go nowhere with it, and I think what remains now to be done is here on the reactor level along with the main computer on level 5...

You will need the help of the robot to navigate the maze on level 6. There is something in that maze that will enable you to unlock the door to the reactor.

robcfg

Hi Nich,

Thanks for your reply!

Spoiler: ShowHide

I thought that was the answer, but I cannot figure how to solve the maze because I cannot stay much longer than 4-5 screens without radioactive protection and I cannot use the robot while in the maze due to radiation.

My current progress in the maze is as follows:

If I go through the open door to the room to the right of the robot, I can open the passage to the back of the maze, but I get stuck there and die. And I can't figure how to get the robot out there and still be able to go through the open door (as it closes to let the robot go out there).

I don't know if all those minigames where easy for you or not, but for me it almost made me stop playing the game altogether.

Thanks for your help!

Targhan

Spoiler: ShowHide
Oh, you should first launch ALL the missiles, so that the radioactivity is bearable to a human !

Thanks for the tip, I thought that the last missile couldn't be launched so there's always some radioactivity to make the level trickier.

I'll try it later.

Hail to the King, baby!

I managed to get to the first ending, and I'm now playing to get the other two.

I loved the scroller and its great music!

robcfg

Second ending achieved!

Spoiler: ShowHide
Nice screen and music! Any hints on how to get the third one? absolutely no clue...
