Well someone had to do it. So I sacrificed and tortured myself with this abomination...
Graphics are awesome; sound is unspeakable except of one tune that is ok but repetitive.
Now the controls, OMG! There is no chance to avoid a trap, you will always get hurt.
This game seems like it is optimized in basic, when more than one sprite is on screen everything is unresponsive.
I suggest that no one should try this at home.
(Sorry Titus)

Amstrad CPC - Prehistorik 1 Longplay (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Br3tSX_HM24#)
Nice job.
;D
Actually the severe slowdown (for example, when ballooning over the fish at 8:00) reminds me of another Titus game, Titus the Fox.
That game slows down horribly when you try to stack a few blocks.
It looks as though it has very poor (and SLOW) collision detection code.
Well done ;) I actually played this game right through about 6 months ago mainly because of the beautiful graphics. From that point of view, this game really is one of the best the cpc has to offer right up until the end screen (bewbs!). From a gameplay point of view (the slowdown mainly) it was terrible. I haven't been near it since I finished it but I sure loved those graphics.
This leads me to two questions - Firstly, does anyone know where the graphics were ported from, Amiga or ST?
Second - Is it right that Titus only released these later games on the CPC as far as 8 bits were concerned?

Made by the same person. Titus the Fox and Prehistorik 1.
EDIT: I have played both. Prehistorik 1 is really really slow. Titus the fox is a little faster.
But I am sure some optimisation can be made somewhere.

Most of Charles Goodwin's games are
very slow when there is a lot of activity on the screen. Try
Palitron or
Warlock for more examples.
It may not be Prehistorik, but I enjoy playing Atlantis Software "Cavemania" as an alternative.
