Is this the AGDx sprite routines?

There's something odd about the look of this game I can't quite figure out. The sprites clash with the background, like they are being XORed, but even the tiny bullet sprite causes a huge chunk of the background to become discoloured when it passes by. It kind of looks like all the sprites are surrounded with a large area of black pixels which is not the same black as colour 0.

I have tried this game.., I have a problem "leaving" the ladders from the upper side.., I cannot move there in some of them if they finish exactly at the level of the floor.., does anyone else have this problem?

Prodatron

As you can see in Xenos video he had the same problem.

Version 2 of this game was released yesterday that fixes the ladders problem.

There's a couple of cool boss battles later in the game! It's quite a fun simple Rick Dangerous game, I quite enjoyed it given it's a quick port of an existing Spectrum homebrew game that got made into Mode 0 colours. There's a banging tune on the loading screen too!

Hello ,
Of course as mentionned the GE is AGDX.
And root routines are XORED.
That's the point.
The conversion to CPC involved somes minor and major change but engine remain the same.
Feedback is fair enough , and one more game on amstradCPC.

@asertus and @Prodatron ,as mentionned the v2.0 fix this issue.
The ladder looks block if you not track the ladder way from bottom to above.
The 2.0 fix the issue with a Codefix.
Problem solved.
This version is available on the same game page.

Thanks @Xyphoe , your stream was great.
You beat the middle boss and final boss.
This game play with the version 2.0 , was a good stresstest code validation .
Thanks for the Chiptune intro , yes it's a small bonus for the passionates.

More others GX4000 devs and CPC old devs will come soon.

Sorry I'm not familiar with AGDX, I've just never seen a CPC game that used this particular graphic technique before, since it doesn't look like the typical XOR sprites.

As far as I'm aware AGDX is just using typical XOR sprites. Most likely the dev had two colours set to black and just didn't realise they'd used the "wrong" black on the bullets - easy to do if you're more familiar with the spectrum INK/PAPER mechanism.

When I was a kid it used to frustrate me that the only kind of sprites I could do were XORed. But these days I actually quite like it since you don't see it much any more and it reminds me of those times.
