R-type Redo I have made the file into a HFE even including the side a and b version tried running both versions the Dual side and the single disk versions from an HXC 2001 floppy emulator the screen just goes black and does not seem to move on at all.

This is very weird as R-Type runs perfectly on a hxc.what is your cpc setup(type, hxc drive ,connection, etc)
"NOP" is the perfect program : short , fast and (known) bug free

I may misunderstand your post...
Have you downloaded the HFE file from the website, instead of making your?

I'd say this is very weird as the file works perfectly on my usual CPC (6128 Type 1 , 3" internal, Hxc external forced on A)
No more infos about your CPC , or it is a Plus ? Firmware version of your Hxc too , Hxc USB or SD ?

HXC 2001 but running as a b:drive and its CPC6128 version 1, I am ordering a cable with a switch to allow forcing the HXC to be an A: Drive

No need as Hxc owns a jumper to setup it as A & B.Btw R-Type works on A or B without problem.
Try to skip intro by pressing key until you the game launches to see.
Please check too if you HxC firmware is up to date.
I attached too a CRTC test , please run it and say me what number it shows (cause type 4 is difficult to find so i didn't check on this one nor both version of Plus)

Ran the test on the older CPC 6128 and it reported it as 0
The Orange LED keeps falshing after its read the tracks it goes three cycles of reading the tracks then stops the RA letters keep flashing and the middle orange LED flickers.

For no apparent reason I have changed nothing in my set on the HSC nor the CPC R-Type is now running happily off the HXC

TotO

May be a problem with the ribbon cable, so...
Nice that you can now play to the game. :)

TotO
