Hi!
I´m searching for the tape version of Chopper Squad.
It would be awesome if someone could upload it here.
Thanks a lot. :)

Hm, I don't seem to have it anywhere... But can I ask why you want the cdt version?

Thanks for looking, Gryzor. :)
I want to play it on my 464. That´s why I need the tape version.
I found an original copy on Ebay.co.uk, though. It should arrive soon.
I´ll dump it as soon as possible.
Ah I sympathise with your geekiness :D
Cool, another one down...

ευχαριστώ, Gryzor. ;)
:D
No, I really do. For a time I had my Win startup sound set to Arkanoid's tape loading sound... that is, until my roommates kind of got bored of it.
Okay, here it is. :)
Please check it out.
I found all possible read errors on this CDT.
Please send me a WAV or similar to devilmarkus[at]cpcwiki.eu
Cheers,
Markus
We are working on it...
BTW.: A clone of this game is this one:

With help from CNGSoft we made a CDT for this game.
Here it is:

Thank you, loading it up as I'm typing. O! Divine sound...
Hey, this game is quite similar to Into Oblivion in a few respects (gfx, sfx, execution...)!

I thought the same once I played the game, since I had the tapes of both Into Oblivion & Terra Cognita, but then they all say Stephen Curtis on the title screen!
Hm! I think Terra Cognita is not bad, but Into Oblivion is pure crap - 25 years on and I still have no idea what I'm supposed to do!
So, what else has he done? I see he did Nonterraqueous (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nonterraqueous) for instance... and Soul of a Robot (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soul_of_a_Robot).
Hi,
Sometimes, it helps to possess the original tape. I have just typed the notice of the game. Maybe it will give you some directions :-).

THE AIM OF THE GAME
===================
Following the total destruction of the evil, paranoid computer that
rules the 42 planets in this galaxy (Soul of a Robot) all that is left is
a force of erratic and unpredictable Droids and a race of primitive
human-like creatures.
You have gaind control of a soohisticated seeker - the MK II -
and are based on the planet Safrik. Unless you can locate the
legendary "Safe Planet" you will be at the mercy of the Droids, who
have been programmed to obliterate any intruders.
You have left with no choice, to survive you must find the only
planet in the entire galaxy offering you safety from the swarms of
Droids. There are number of space ships left behind from the past
generation of intelligent unhabitants some of which you will be able
to control automatically on entry, others will be inhibited by a force
field, you must learn to de-activate this in order to take control of
the ship.
You will also find transporter planets which once you are able to
operate the transporter, will take you to a new location. However,
as in all galaxies some planets will have unsuitable environments -
these must be avoided.
Finally, you must gather the Psyche units (of which there are over
90) and take them to the Safe Planet. Will you survive the sadistic
Droids or will they blow you into Oblivion ?
Controls
========
Joystick or keys:
Q - Thrust up
O - Thrust left
P - Thrust right
SPACE - Fire lazer
COPY - Pick up object
<up> key - Get directional help
ENTER - Take off, when in space ship.
Hints
=====
1. Certain screens are one directional only, ie you can move out of
the screen but not back into it.
2. Some areas on certain planets have a corrosive atmosphere that
will cause you to lose a life - avoid them.
3. To help you certain screens have a cluster of direction
indicators. Pressing the <up> key will re-configure the arrows and
point to the Safe Planet. However, the directions are shown 'as
the crow flies' and do not take into account any obstacles.
4. You will also find Shield Units, which when picked up will give
you immunity from the attacks of the Droids for a limited length
of time. This will be shown by the border turning red.

intelligents a abandonne.
l'oubli.

P - Puissance vers la droite
SPACE (espace) - tir laser

CONSEILS
========
Hello TomEtJerry!
Thanks for all the info - did you really type all this in? Wow...
Unfortunately, I do have the original game - a couple of sealed taped and a couple of open ones, since it's the first game I ever bought. So I have had the instructions for 25 years, but still it seems like your ship is aimlessly wondering... :(
Hello,
Well, it doesn't take me a long time to type this short documentation, and I find that a text file is more readable than a scan. I have typed longer texts in the past :-) but as it is a boring task, I must admit that this is the kind of thing I don't do regularly :-).
Sorry for the forum bug, you right, I have tried tu upload the text file, without result.
T&J/GPA
Well, thanks anyway. If anyone fancies to do a longplay for Into Oblivion I'd be much obliged :D
The problem has been solved, you can try again :)

Those are the only two I had so I dont really know what else he did. It's just that they were pretty early purchases and I did play them both a fair bit, even Into Oblivion. The laser sound was pretty distinctive so it was the first thing to strike me on playing Chopper Squad.
I dont recall getting that far in Into Oblivion either (maybe about 10% of those items), though that direction 'help' was no help at all. From memory, it just boiled down to a pretty dull maze with lots of switches & back tracking, and too little variety in the enemies & backgrounds. Maybe it changed further into the game, but I never saw it! So I remember it as probably my worst budget purchase.
What really irritates me is that it was my first game (dad bought it along with the ol' 464), so I played it till the tape melted, and I have a special place for it in my heart. Yet I never got anywhere, although I should have finished it - to say the least!
I wonder if anyone's ever made a map, but I haven't found anything...
You're right about the laser sound, it was the one that did the trick for me too, and then the gfx (sprites, laser line...).

Gosh - you have been talking about Into Oblivion for years... I think we both need therapy (or to finish the game and get some closure) :D
Into Oblivion- should have gone into oblivion - utterly boring game! Nonterra and Soul of were just about bearable.

It was - and still is - but there is just something about leaving a game unfinished...
Hm, can someone verify that the cdt posted above works? WinAPE gives me "Invalid TZX file"...
