Playing a few CPC games recently got me to thinking about speedrunning and I'm curious to know what people here think are the best titles for this dark art.

To get the discussion started, I'll propose a couple of titles.  First, Super Robin Hood, as you really need to understand the layout and the best order in which to collect hearts and keys if you're going to succeed. And second, Cybernoid, as it's not a pattern-based shooter but one where the pacing can be dictated by a skillful player. Add in the "puzzle" elements and you've got something which lends itself perfectly to super fast playthroughs.

So, any other ideas?

Games like Gryzor would be perfect, I would also love to do a speed run on Impossible Mission, but I guess there is too much randomness in it (position of rooms, robots, etc.)

I think it would be interesting to see how fast can be finished for example Goody, Saboteur 2, Rick Dangerous and Head over heels

And here I am, still finding amazing that people are able to finish CPC games at normal pace. I think that besides the text adventures all the other games completely owned me as a kid or as an adult  :picard2: .  On a totally separate note, if somebody is brave enough I would like to see a speed run of Abu Simbel Profanation. Profanation 2 would be perfect too  ;D

Golden Tail can be quite fun to speedrun.

Metr81 did it:

Released The Return of Traxtor, Golden Tail, Magica, The Dawn of Kernel, Kitsune`s Curse, Brick Rick, Hyperdrive and The Heart of Salamanderland for the CPC.

If you like my games and want to show some appreciation, you can always buy me a coffee.

Hmm,  but here you have to set rules for the speedrun ! Should all bombs be collected in correct order ?

That would be slower than just rushing through the 63 levels  8)

I found this one quite impressive: https://www.cpcwiki.eu/forum/general-discussion/hello-im-jesus-delmas-from-spain!-check-also-my-rick-dangerous-wr-speed-run!/msg149267/

Rick Dangerous in 15:33, and it is a hard game!

It is, but after a few practice runs, it can be done blindfolded.
Level 3 is actually harder than level 4! But once you memorise where the placement of the obstacles / moving platforms, it's easily doable.
Rick Dangerous II on the other hand... forget it!
Currently playing on: 2xCPC464, 1xCPC6128, 1x464Plus, 1x6128Plus, 2xGX4000. M4 board, ZMem 1MB and still forever playing Bruce Lee.
No cheats, snapshots or emulation. I play my games as they're intended to be played. What about you?

Gryzor

Well like with every speedrun you can choose how you do it. Either do all bombs in the correct order or just do it quick - two different things.

Rick Dangerous I/II and Cybernoid I/II would be sweet!
