Title: Sly Spy (allegro)
Post by: Jean-Marie on 19:20, 24 April 23
Music ingame!
10 additional music :
1 music per level + ending game music. This is madness!
I've used the 6 AYC files converted by Madram in 2013, and converted the remaining ones using the flawless YMCruncher (actually, I just had to press the button :) )
Like for Spellbound, the excellent AYC Player from Overlanders and the music files are stored in the extra 64K bank.
Thanks also to CNG for his compact & "all files" disc version, and Mr Guillaumin who maintains an impressive collection of Atari ST music files (https://nguillaumin.github.io/ym-jukebox/).

I've added a (visual) fading out effect when a level is completed, to make the transition to the next level less "brutal".

I´d like to play the game on my CPC 6128. I´m using the OSSC and it can´t display the CNG screen.
I often have problems with CNG stuff on my setup.

And in this case I also can´t press any key to continue.

Any idea? Thanks!

I had originally worked on the original Erbe spanish version. You can find the 2 discs in enclosure.
The thing is : it does not use the regular File system, and reads the sectors directly form disc.
So I'm not sure you'll be able to copy it on a real disc, a gotek, or whatever.
I'm totally benighted regarding all those modern gadgets  :D (I only use emulators).
Also, it's version 1, so no fading out effect. Let me know if it works and I'll have it included.

My pleasure. Use those disc files instead : I have just included the fading out effect (version 2).

V1 works perfectly via HxC!
So converting to .hfe works just fine.

Will download V2 later today.

If you want a trainer, use the CNG version which is also more compact. The ERBE version has no trainer and uses 2 discs, but seems to load faster at startup though...
I've omitted an important piece of information regarding the CNG version : you need to RUN"SLYSPY.BAS", and not "CNG.BAS" ! (My bad, I should have renamed or hidden the file)

Next, I plan to repaint the walls of my kitchen (23:Pastel cyan)  :)

I remember having read on youtube comments some year ago, some apologies from original programmer, he wrote that everything was done to implement sounds but du to lack of time he dropped.

I'm usinf CNG release with patch, after the final boss (in the coin op release, just before the final boss we fight against some earlier bosses for a 2nd time, another thing "forgottent" by Software Creations), the game ask me to continue then hang up. I must reset the CPC.

Are you using the CNG cheat options at start up? From what you describe, that could stem from using Infinite credits. Normally, a game over is displayed when you complete the game, but you should not see the Continue message, as the program resets the number of credits.
Edit:
I have reproduced the problem. Don't use Infinite Credits from CNG until I find a fix. In the meantime, you can poke &25,x where x is the number of credits.

I have corrected the trainer. For complex reasons, There won't be Infinite Credits, but 99 credits instead.
I've just tested it successfully.
This is version 3. Erbe version is unchanged, obviously, since it has no trainer.
Thank you for having reported the bug by the way!

@Jean-Marie Well done ! Another great improvement. If only publishers always thought to use the extra 64K RAM of the 6128 to play music at the time, lot of CPC late games would have offer music rather than just some noises  :P
