Quote from: Puresox on 19:37, 17 December 12What about Lazer Squad? It is a little frustrating mind you going through some of the menu's but a great non-frantic game!

I took a look at a YouTube video of Laser Squad. Looks a bit too much like a military strategy game, which doesn't appeal to me.

Can someone give me some suggestions for relaxing Amstrad CPC games?

Examples of relaxing games in my opinion:
Fire ant
Frostbyte
Obsidian
Orion Prime
Prince of Persia
Radzone
Roland Ahoy
Spindizzy
Wriggler

What other relaxing games can you suggest I take a look at?

Thanks.

- All of the Dizzy adventure games
- Rockstar Ate My Hamster
- Wonder Boy
Currently playing on: 2xCPC464, 1xCPC6128, 1x464Plus, 1x6128Plus, 2xGX4000. M4 board, ZMem 1MB and still forever playing Bruce Lee.
No cheats, snapshots or emulation. I play my games as they're intended to be played. What about you?

MGT : a slow paced action game with a very relaxing ambience.

I never got into "Elite" and compared to something like "Forbidden Planet" where everything starts firing at you the minute you being, I guess if you just cruised around, it should be relaxing? No?

Another game I find relaxing is Codies "Street Gang Football", you can get into some really weird areas after you've scored some 3 or 4 Goals, in the second round you just need to take the Soccer Ball into them before the Ball Bursts and you can bet the game will finish somewhere they cannot get out.  :D

I don't know if some of those Freestyle games could be relaxing.

Another one I just remember specifically for the AA Covertape was "Seymour Take 1", that game was so funny, you could rescue the Female from the Train and Die Yourself before the Train Got to the other side and read the funny comments they had to say about you dying when Filming the picture.  :D  It was just too bad it wasn't any bigger, though it was good fun.
* Using the old Amstrad Languages :D   * with the Firmware :P
* I also like to problem solve code in BASIC :)   * And type-in Type-Ins! :D

Always felt that Spindizzy was like walking a tightrope without any security and under a timelimit = not relaxing  ;) Still not as hectic as Trailblazer or Split Personalities.

Might wanna check out Gyroscope, Bobby Bearing and Marble Madness if you like the Spindizzy style of games.

Ive always felt that these games was fairly relaxing:
- Zorro
- Ghostbusters
- Glider Rider
- Puzznic (with the timelimits poke'd off).
- E-Motion
- Ikari Warriors
- Rampage
- Volley-Ball
- Yes, Primeminister
- Wacky Darts

Games that made me fall asleep:
- Explorer (Activison): 40 billion of the same dull green/yellow looking location? zZzzZZzzzZz
- Yes Prime Minister
.. and a bunch of war strategy games whose name i have forgotten (repressed?).

Seymour Take 1 was great.  :)

True. Spindizzy was only relaxing when the time limit was poked away.

Ikari? Relaxing? Wow.

I think it's more Relaxing compared to Glider Rider unless your disabling those Laser Beams with a Cheat, but if you just want to find any game relaxing - cheat.  ;D

Otherwise I found This Game pretty relaxing if you want to kill 5-10 Minutes, I think that's about how long I was interested. Sorry, the Graphics are interesting for something which is Redefined though.  :)

I think another commercial game which fell under the radar is APB. I think Day 3 is a good one cause it gives you Litter Bugs and a change for a Road Chase to catch one of the Villains on the Road. The Disk Image Crack needs 128k I think, though ADATE has a the original Disc Image which works on 64k/128k Systems. The interesting thing with that one is if you setup your system as 64k, you get to see how much loading is involved - AA made a point to mention this when they review it in Issue 50, though they just said the Tape Version was a nightmare (which I can see why) and gave reflecting percentages for Staying Power. I played around with it on Winape on a 464 with 64k and 128k and I must admit that even the 64k + Disc is a bit annoying, 128k literally suits the game more with everything loading when it's all ready, must of been one heck of a loader they wrote.  :D

Ikari? Relaxing? Wow.

I my case its mostly simply knowing the game so well that i find it relaxing. After playing the game so many times i can pretty much predict the entire spawn locations in my head. Its also a fairly slow game compared to games like Commando, so few deaths you dont see coming a mile away. Not that having played the game a lot means its automaticly relaxing to play .. like there is way to many random/accidental deaths in like Ghost N Goblins, Platoon, Spike Harold etc .. for it to be relaxing.

Indeed flying into those lasers is not something that relax you .. even though i find it a quite lenient as the lasers push you back while sapping yor energy. I must also admit i loaded up Glider Rider quite a few times simply to listen to the great music by David W who did a amazing job on this game. The tune you get when driving the bike is pretty funky but the tune you get when turning into the glider .. i always felt was quite relaxing :)

Starquake: as i got the game in a gremlins compilation (the compilation of non-relaxing games) i may be slightly  biased towards the game as it came along with Trailblazer (that i liked best of the games), Boulder (tightrope + bad controls is not a good combo) and Auf Wiedersehen Monty (couldnt get past screen 2 and didnt know the right items but a ok game). Finally Starquake .. with its non-linear massive labyrinth, odd passwords, extremely limited resources and fairly unpleasant "energy drain & death" noises. Only loaded it like 3 times ever back then. Of cause this is a age thing and i find it to be quite a good game now. Still "relaxing" is not one of the words i think of when i think of it.

Am I the only person in the world still playing Trivial Pursuit Genus Edition on the CPC? I find playing it extremely relaxing.

I know the answers to half the questions and that is where the comedy comes from. I just love it. I'm probably mad, yes.

TFM

Hmmm...... that may be an interesting candidate for a remake ;-)

Nah, come on, it's not that bad. Certainly as far as board games go. And yes, it is quite relaxing - Ciana didn't say "hey, this is the bestest game evah!".

But, wow, we found the one person who buys this game in eBay auctions? :D

Certainly not worse than playing with 30 year old hardware. ;)

Excuse me now, I have the sudden urge to invite Ciana's avatar to a drink ...

Drink? Not Scrabble? Or Trivial Pursuit?

We're talking about the avatar not the user, two different entities until proven otherwise (but highly unlikely that they're the same).

But sure, Trivial Pursuit, Scrabble, drinks, whatever it takes to establish contact.

BTW, I've played Trivial Pursuit Classic Rock with my nephew recently. The questions are really hard -> not so much fun. You'd really need a few iterations to learn enough answers to become relaxing.

Tequila Sunrise through the internet? Never got it running, but my keyboard is sticky now with a taste of lemon  ;)

Hey Mav it is me in the avatar but I can absolutely guarantee you wouldn't want to go for a drink.... lol  :D

mr_lou

I never liked Trivial Pursuit games. Always found them boring and.... no, just boring.

Might be different if all the questions were about a certain topic that interested me, but since most things don't interest me, that'll be a difficult game to find.
