Hey guys
Sorry I've not been around much or do any longplays, well I've been working the last few months on a big video to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the CPC 464, I felt like outside of our CPC community there wasn't enough fuss being made of it. So decided to do a tribute to it, mostly for people in the retro gaming community (hence why the inclusion of interviews with popular YouTube channels and Darran Jones editor of Retro Gamer magazine to gain there interest) who have bad misconspections of the machine - to try and dispell these. And of course to celebrate it's awesomeness!
I'm sure though it will be enjoyable to those more than familiar with the machine too. And I think the interviews worked out well because I went for 4 people all who have different angles (Darran whilst a huge huge fan of the CPC has to maintain balance and some amount of impartialness with running the magazine, Steve collects as many 8-bit machines as he can and only in the last few years experienced the CPC, Alex likes a range of machines but started with the 6128 and Ash is just a huge Amstrad fan period!). So it's kinda turned into some sort of documentary! Especially as it now ended up being an hour long which I hadn't planned. Oh and got a couple of plugs for the CPC Wiki in there too ;)

I've got a little production coming out fairly soon (didn't quite make it for the 30th anniversary!) that celebrates the CPC in a rather unusual way.
I'm really looking forward to getting it out there... not too much longer now!
(I've borrowed the idea of an art gallery... can't say much more than that at this stage).

Since watching this this afternoon I have Downloaded and played Who Dares Wins 2 and 3D Grand Prix, both VERY playable. A great Video and some brilliant game recommendations.

Great video, you know I feel the same way about the CPC it was a good all round machine and was marketed that way, the fact it could and was used fro serious work and you could play games on it too was just a bonus.

I remember mine certainly was used for both edges of that sword.
It did my entire University course on my 6128 plus (With Brunword on ROM and Supercalc for CP/M) and I also used it for competitive Pro Tennis Tour and Pang based drinking forfeit games, Students eh? LOL.
If I'd had Prehistork 2 then I'd probably have failed, as it was I had Manchester United Europe, Blues Brothers and Final Fight so I got good grades. and had some fun times too.

I used my 6128 with Protext, the spellchecker a second drive and an Epson printer when I was University, only person in my year who had access to a word processor.

I used Brunword Elite ROM Module for the excellent printed output. No matter which print enhancers were used with Protext, none came close to the quality of Brunword Elite and the Chelmer or Clackton fonts.
The latter being based on Peter Brunning's own handwriting I believe.
Other Students on the course tended towards the more serious PCW, and a couple had low end PC's (One even an Amstrad PC) but they could not play PANG! so I was not really interested LOL.Craig
Well, the print out mainly depends on the printer. I still use Prowort (CP/M Plus) and an HP 500 for printing. And the PC can't compete, because it's slower.

I am not sure I agree with this. Brunword Elite and the fonts provided produce output that nothing else on the CPC could match. but that is just my opinion. I no longer have a Epson compatible printer to demonstrate this unfortunately so cannot print anything from my CPC's

Well, if doesn't matter which software is used when the printer f.e. is crappy it can't become laser quality. The printer hardware finally decides the limitations of the printed page - not the software (even if both are needed in well cooperating quality).

And yea I used my 6128 right the way through the end of school and into 6th form college for all my homework, even after we got our first PC.
I think it was Protext I used as a word processor.
