Okay!
This looks amazing! Anyone know if there's going to be an English translation?
Well done to the team! Looks wonderful.

Yes , english coming soon and french later
Looks beautiful, really, eagerly awaiting the English version!
I didn't understand the puzzle (I'm completely rubbish at this type of game), but from the video I can tell that the game is really fantastic!
I solved their first mini-adventure a few years ago with great taste and I would also be available to carry out a translation into Italian if I had the texts available (and if the programmers are interested in this further option).
It looks really amazing, I have been itching for something like this in the CPC.
If you guys need a translation into German too, just let me know. I did Orion Prime before.
It would be nice for them to release the PAKET engine for free at some point.
Looks great, looking forward to playing it in english (or french!). But where is the spanish download link?
(... oh nevermind, the download link is related to the puzzle on the website.)
Mmmh, the puzzle is pretty simple and I get a logical answer, but the subdomain doesn't seem to be working. Is it just me?
It works for me... https://www.paketesoft.com/solution or https://www.paketesoft.com/es/solution

Yeah, I struggled there too. However the diagram is just misleading. It looks like you need to change the subdomain but all you need to do is to replace the path after the server address.
@HAL6128 Both URLs give 404...
@eto Ah yeah, it's not the subdomain, it's an additional part in the path, thanks.
Well, just add a ZIP here... :)
English versión out !!!

Amazing work!
And Italian, French and German versions will follow very soon, according to Jordi (on the following message).
He says it's very easy to edit thanks to the PAKET engine... That engine needs to go public ASAP (or at least they should do like Carmack and release it when they create the PAKET 2.0 one). ;D

Did you not read XeNoMoRPH's earlier post (https://www.cpcwiki.eu/forum/games/the-key-a-a-full-point-and-click-game-for-cpc/msg239066/#msg239066) first?

The riddle is easy, they rewrote it so it's easier now, for example I was typing the word at the wrong place, and in reverse order...
It's worth the effort to play the game.

Funny puzzle !
Well done :D
Thank you very much for your effort.

I started playing it, it seems rather interesting but... come on, no save game on disk, only on tape?!
Once again a game that forces us to play on emulator and not on a real machine :(.

what they said at Retropolis 2024 is that this is due to no memory left to implement the disc saving game routine
Come on, this is 2024... At least allow 128k users to use that, or generate a password or something... My problem is that this once again dismisses players that want to play it on the real machine.

I totally agree.
The game is about half an hour long on the first playthrough and 5 minutes when you know what you're doing. A save function is not all that necessary.
Otherwise, there is the Mirage Imager, which I believe would let you save your state on a real CPC...
The solution of the English version on my YouTube channel... not to be seen for those who don't want spoilers! ;)

Well, I didn't know that and don't want to know that before starting the game :). But on TwittX, the author told me the save option on disc was on its way, which is great. Since they've made a generic engine, I think it's a required option for the forthcoming games!

Of course I did. But...
Didn't you see that in doesn't work?
It's still error 404!
Quote from: HAL6128 on 10:39, 01 May 24It works for me... https://www.paketesoft.com/solution or https://www.paketesoft.com/es/solution
None of them works. All error 404.
My first thoughts where the same.
I just have no tapedeck at all.
On the other hand, it forces me to build
an arduino solution...
Not sooo bad at least.

Err... yes. You may replace the word solution with the result of the puzzle.
Trust me, it did work for me.

That makes sense. Cheers

Seems, that for some people it's too hard to understand the puzzle... :D
And if you never have seen the puzzle, it is ... https://www.paketesoft.com/es/the-key-eng-version
You need to find the key in the puzzle ...
I mean I'm not what I used to be back in the day when it comes to adventures, but I hardly consider this a puzzle...

Errr... damn.
I just recognized, there is no Arduino based solution
of a "tape recorder" that is able to "record".
Seems, it's only PLAY file capable ?

Yes, but never mind. It worked for me as soon as I used another PC instead my old 2009 Laptop. No wonder that you couldn't solve it using symbos. ;)
Just PM me and I'll tell you how to get to the solution. :)
One hint right here: it got something to do with the directions. And the compass works as key. :)
Just had a chance for a playthrough, and I'm absolutely blown away! Major kudos to the programmers for providing an English version, or I would probably never have any incentive to play the game. (BTW, I found one instance where Spanish text remains - when you try using keys on invalid objects, the status message is not translated)
Very much looking forward to more of this. Very very well done!
With careful observation it is easy to solve... :D

I love that the final puzzle has more than one clue on how to solve it. (You can get it via the name or via the numbers)

I was talking about the puzzle to download the game. Haven't played it yet ;D
I just watched part of a live interview to the PAKET team on the Juanje Juega Youtube channel.
The guys are very intelligent: the mansion is admitedly copied from Luigi's Mansion, they will be releasing parts 2 and 3, they don't want people to buy the game to never play it... And they plan to include a TDK casette with the physical edition, a reproduction of a real cassette the programmer found on a drawer with a CPC Basic game programmed by his 10yo brother in the 80s.
I'm a fan of "escape the room" Flash games, so I will play it at some point. I'm lately not a fan of 3rd person graphic adventures (you end up watching your character walk 90% of the time). I believe, just like Mario 64 destroyed video games with the forced analog stick and camera controls, what IBM did with King's Quest (forcing them to add "cool animations") in a way not destroyed, but it certainly complicated a genre that was having lots of problems before that.
So instead of fixing the "moon logic" stuff, graphic adventures (not the ones who made the first 2 Monkey Islands and Indiana Jones, or Space Quest 1, 4 and 5, and I also like Coktel Vision's 1st person games except for a couple of crazy puzzles) went full "animations" mode with the 3rd person view. And only in a few years, voice acting and FMV actually destroyed the genre by increasing the budgets exponentially.
The logical, my friends, progression of text adventures was something like Myst (but not so confusing), not King's Quest. And 3rd person action games are usually better in 3D because of Miyamoto (who admitted they had to make jumps much easier in Mario 64 due to the control problems... seriously, what's the fun of going in any direction/speed if you can't really control it and you lose all the digital precision?).
Back to The Key, I guess it will win the Best of 2024 award or the Sugars or whatever... There are still 8 more months, but I don't think any worthy rival will appear.
The game looks wonderful.
I've started playing it on tape on real hardware but there's a problem: the loading of a saving game from tape doesn't work: I can save but when I try to load, the tape doesn't start after pressing PLAY and SPACE as requested. It's just me?
May you wait a couple of days? I have an 6128, but no tape or recorder at all. However, I catched one on @bay, and already own the "adapter" cable needed...
I'll test save and load as soon as possible.
