Hm, does anyone know if Virus (a.k.a Zarch) was done for the CPC. If so, does anyone have it?
If anyone remembers, that's the one Archimedes game that made the Amiga and Atari ST look bad.
The Spectrum has a conversion *grumble*:
Virus - World of Spectrum (http://www.worldofspectrum.org/infoseekid.cgi?id=0005587)
I used to play a version of ZARCH on the school Archimedes, called LANDER! Great game! It also taught me how to play DOOM & QUAKE properly before any of my friends! (ie, mouse control for looking) I also played VIRUS on Amiga!
I'd love to see a CPC version, but it's vectors again and will probably play very slowly!
Well, the speccy version of Virus has its own story, Firebird said that they would not port Virus to 8 bits machines, because it was impossible, etc etc :P
And then Mr. Steven Dunn (http://www.stevendunn.com/) saw Zarch in the PCW Show, thought it was a great game, made the conversion to zx in his free time, sent it to Firebird and the rest is history ;)

"Objectives Achieved:
Fast vector line drawing using self-modifying code, gravity effects, sprite-based 3D objects."
Looks like a good candidate for a worthy Speccy port (for once) :D
@SyX: Nice story. :)
I see, Steven Dunn. It comes as no surprise that he also did the Starglider 2 conversion to the Spectrum. Hm, I've got to have a look at the games on other platforms he's been doing. Thanks for the tip! :)
