Spanish CPC games: What do you think about them?

As a Spaniard, I've always had mixed feelings about Spanish 8 bit games.

As I kid I had around 10 of them (Abbey of the Crime, Sir Fred, Basket Master, Pugaboo, West & Fargo, Rock & Roller and the text adventures Megacorp, La guerra de las vajillas [Star Wars parody] and Don Quijote) and I only liked (and still like) Megacorp, as the rest were too frustrating.

However, in many cases Spanish games have wonderful ideas badly developed. For example, among the list above, Abbey of the Crime could have easily been done without the punishing the players, Sir Fred could have been fine-tuned to be Prince of Persia several years earlier, and Basket Master has some cool mechanics. Pugaboo is a fun game, but it clearly could be a bit less chaotic for its own good.

A common conception is that Spanish games have great graphics, but are too difficult. Because you know, the programmers were the testers and all that. An example that's often given is the first stage in Navy Moves.

What do you think about Spanish CPC games?

PS: You can find the top 100 Spanish CPC games here, but please note this page is about games published by Spanish companies, so some French and British games may appear: https://computeremuzone.com/amstrad/gameratings

Freddy Hardest, Phantis, Viaje al Centro de la Tierra, Los amores de Brunilda, and many more, are very playable and well balanced.

I still play many of them regularly.

Now, what about french or british games? I know a load of them that are very hard or plain unplayable.

I think it's more about gameplay balance than the country of origin if you ask me.

I'm a spanish game fan. A.M.C, After the War, Capitan Trueno are oftenly played today. Game Over, Nonamed and Dustin were huge games for 1986. Freddy Hardest, Satan, M.O.T, Army Moves, Corsario... The spanish touch sounds like quality to my opinion. I'm frequently using pokes but i love them. After the War was a great answer to the ugly Vigilante (The same with Satan and Black Tiger). Navy Moves is a AAA (Some news from Artic Moves ?).
It's sad that Narco Police was so bugged, and the the last Dinamic game sold in France was the awful (unfinished ?) Buggy Ranger. Livingstone 2 was a wonderful game but far too hard.

The MHT Gunstick is my favorite gun on CPC, with more than 15 games on it. Only 2 on the Westphaser, and 11 on the Amstrad/Trojan (and most of them are useless). Mike Gunner...

Some gaps:

Great tunes (excepted for A.M.C and Rescate Atlantida)

I really enjoyed Spanish games. I know some are difficult, but this happens to many games of that era I think.
Navy moves is indeed too difficult, but army moves part 2 (the game at jungle, camp, and house) in not so difficult, and really enjoyable!
