...well for next xmas as I am late.

I would like to see a good conversion of scramble and river raid for my beloved machine before I close my eyes.
I know it is a big thing this to do but hey, hope dies last as we say here.

Maybe a coder from here will act as santa next year.

alex76gr

Oh yes my friend, Scramble and River Raid would be bliss for next year's Christmas presents.

Would it be too much if i asked a nice conversion for Berzerk too?

I don't want to get a lump of coal for being greedy. ;D
I still believe that i got my myopia from the green GT-65 monitor, but i can't prove it! :)

Just to be clear, do you mean these?

- Scramble (video game)- Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
- River Raid - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I'm not saying anything, but I want to know what are we talking about here...  :P
Released The Return of Traxtor, Golden Tail, Magica, The Dawn of Kernel, Kitsune`s Curse, Brick Rick, Hyperdrive and The Heart of Salamanderland for the CPC.

If you like my games and want to show some appreciation, you can always buy me a coffee.

Puresox

Those are great choices , I wouldn't mind some of that for sure!

Yes, exactly those.

Also, this Berzerk.

Well, I already disassembled the arcade version of Berzerk some time ago, when I'll find some spare time, I'll try to build out of it a version running on cpc, perhaps even with the speech :)

heh, hold your horses please :), it still needs a lot of work - the game is written for a rare arcade system with special hardware for various bit logic operations and no programming docs available, so a lot of time is required to determine what's going on in the code. So far the main menu and maze generation works, gfx has been ripped and converted but the rest still requires a lot of work.
Btw: it will be in mode 1, 256x224 resolution just like the original.

I'm holding by breath, on the other hand.

If the game finally works, there could be two versions, one with the original graphics and another with improved ones. Would this be possible?  :)

Lazy Dude

Exiting!
As a private project as opposed to a crowd funded thing, it's  not under any pressure to work to deadlines though.

TFM

Maybe I should use Crowd funding for some projects, Kraut funding didn't work.  :picard2:

I would prefer the gameplay being as close to the original as possible.

Yes, if someone will do the new graphics :)

Xyphoe

For Scamble you already have the excellent Killer Cobra, although really it's more of a port of "Super Cobra" which was an updated version of Scramble.

For River Raid you have the main section of "Assault On Port Stanley"

alex76gr

Killer Cobra is an excellent game indeed.
Technically advanced for its time but it still is a Scramble clone.

As for Port Stanley... no comment.

I believe it's time for the CPC to have some good original games and not rip offs.
Lately, Atari 2600 got a very good conversion of Scramble, and we all know how much under-powered this machine is.
Why not the CPC?

I agree, 2600 has one of the best scramble right now.
As for the under powered machine they used the extra cpu on the SD cartridge.

What's not close?
Killer Cobra  is superb but far too fast , the levels are pretty similar but do go off at a tangent . It would be a brilliant game if they had managed to get the speed right.

With Regard to Port Stanley. The  River Raid Section is pretty close in it's concept, although massively underused in the game , The scrolling is reasonable and all the elements are there , it really would be loads better if it was arranged well . I am not sure of how much use it would be in developing a good River Raid Game . I am shocked that the game developers didn't make more use of it .Best part of the game imo
