Hello
It may look silly but somehow I got dragged into old text adventures.
There is a great article in Amstrad Addict (got my copy recently) covering G.A.C. and there are screenshots from Who's Afraid of the Balrog - there must be someone who could give me some hints. I was not able to get past 2 locations, I have sorted out a number of puzzles which I find really amusing but now stuck. I can describe here what I have done so far but do not want to spoil....
Anyone able to provide some hints ??

I recall you had to jump on the lintel to get a piece of chalk or something that was up there at the start, and I recall closing a door to get an apron or something if I'm thinking of the right game... haven't played this in 30 years!  Since it was the winning entry in an Amstrad Action contest to write a game using G.A.C. I'm sure tips or the solution will be in a later AA (I think this appeared in AA93 so likely in one of the next half dozen issues).

Thanks for good hints - will try them out - but I did jump on the lintel before and it did not accept any commands other than D to get down - anything else was something like ' can't do much while hanging on your fingertips ' ... there must be a proper word to get something (you said there should be a piece of chalk).
Haha, this is something consuming too much of my time, need to sort it out and not get addicted to another one ...

You can find the complete solution here :
:: CASA :: Who's Afraid of the Balrog? (Whos_Afraid_of_the_Balrog.txt) (solutionarchive.com)

CASA maintains a huge collection of text adventures, featuring maps & solutions.
Thanks to them, I managed to finish Fantasia Diamond and Kentilla, my fav ones.
