Title: About me and greetings
Post by: unay on 13:25, 30 January 25
Hi mates,

This is Unay from Istanbul.

Early 90's i wanted an Amiga from my father. One of his friends suggession who is a computer teacher that time, he came home with CPC6128 and GT65 without asking me... At that times i was surtenly upset but than i realized after years he did so great thing to me. In time, I upgrade a CTM644 and MP3 modulator.

After years and couple of moving, i lost my 6128. Also gave my CTM644 + MP3 modulator to a friend. He's lost them too(he's still one of my best friend). Now i have a CPC6128, CPC464 and a CTM640, plus LP1 PEN!

It's great to be part of this group.

greetings from Istanbul.

Belivee me, i learned it to hard way.

I've been start working on my CPC464 almost two months ago. Start with complete cleaning, tape belt replacing, head cleaning/replacing/try tuning but couldnt run tape deck properly. After all i find out audio mod and execute it. Then i find a CPC6128 start work on it. Disc drive didnt work, same again belt replace, head cleaning and head adjustment finally it worked :) After that it didnt work again unfortunatly. I realized every time try to run it, i have to head adjustment again and again. I thought it's a mechanical problem that i cant fix. so i decide to connect a 3.5" drive. its done properly, buy bunch of disks and a usb disc driver. Everything is good. But it didnt stop me to doing new things. Amsdos wont let me to use 720kb of disk. I have to upgrade it to Parados :). I bought the necessary materials, desolder the 40015 rom, place the rom socket and try to run CPC without new eprom (that i know it runs like 128k 464) to check everyting is alright. Unfortunatly it's not working anymore. I did someting wrong when i desoldiring 40015 and its crush the board.

İ'm an amateur this kind of things. But its already got me...

+1 for addictive hobby.

"All I wanted was one working Amstrad! Something to hook up to the TV and play a few games I said!"

Ended up with the list below within two years! And that's just the Amstrads!

Do what I do... enjoy it!

I also lost my CPC by the time I got my first Windows PC, and later ended up buying... several more.

After crashing my Amstrad CPC6128 board, start to looking for another one to buy it. Back in 80's, Turkish people who settle in Germany for working always spend their holidays in Turkey with their relatives. And they always came with presents. I'm sure this one particularly from that time. A Schneider computer is very rare here in Turkey. And I'm so excited to find this one :D
