Hi,
Is there anywhere I can download PDF versions of the books on the CPC Wiki site, rather like they have on WoS?
Many thanks
Not in Cpc wiki, but soon on AmstradPlusForum.... What is your need?
Do you have "LOGIC 3: Learn BASIC Programming on the Amstrad CPC 464/664" by Andrew and Veronica Colin, purely for nostalgic reasons. I had this back in the day complete with stencil.
Sorry EgoTrip, i haven't got this one... :-\ Maybe i must find it, who knows?

I have Assembly Language Programming for the AMSTRAD CPC 464,664 & 6128 (http://www.cpcwiki.eu/index.php/Assembly_Language_programming_for_the_Amstrad_CPC_464,664_%26_6128), if there's any chapters of any help. Trouble is the book is 246 pages big and took me some time scanning 50 pages of it, the examples from that book made use of the Devpac Assembler, though it also includes a BASIC loader program (so people could add the opcodes to it if they didn't have an Assembler.
Otherwise CPCPower has:-
How to Program the Z80 (http://www.cpc-power.com/cpcarchives/index.php?page=articles&num=76)
Programming The Z80 (http://www.cpc-power.com/cpcarchives/index.php?page=articles&num=235)
The Z80 Microprocessor (http://www.cpc-power.com/cpcarchives/index.php?page=articles&num=122)
Z80 Assembly Language Programming (http://www.cpc-power.com/cpcarchives/index.php?page=articles&num=114) and
Z80 Assembly Language Subroutines (http://www.cpc-power.com/cpcarchives/index.php?page=articles&num=74)
There's also some other bits & pieces on CPCPower (http://www.cpc-power.com/cpcarchives/index.php?page=articles&cat=11) which deal with Sprites in that area, which might help. Otherwise there's Magazine Assembly Tutorials or Unofficial WWW Amstrad Resource (http://www.cpctech.org.uk/)
Thanks for the links Amsdos. I will take a look.
I have this one -
Mastering Machine Code on your Amstrad - CPCWiki (http://www.cpcwiki.eu/index.php/Mastering_Machine_Code_on_your_Amstrad)
Happy to give it away to someone keen on starting coding. Send me a PM if you would like it.
I'm keeping an eye out for the Amazing Amstrad Omnibus.. loved it back in the day..

Do you mean this one?
That's the one.. I've only seen one copy on ebay and while cheap, it didnt say anything about condition or even have a photo of the goods.. but I would love to get hold of it again..
I've just had a look through my copy and the pages are virtually unmarked. There's a slight curl to the corners of the covers and the first/last few pages and a few minor marks on the sides, but apart from that it's pretty good for a thirty year old book!
Let me know if you're interested in it, and I could perhaps take some more photos for you.

The Artificial Intelligence chapter looks interesting, just wondered if it was set out for someone like me looking for ideas on applying Artificial Intelligence to games?
Talking of CPC books - I've been hunting for this book for a long time with no success:-
Communiquez avec votre Amstrad
[/size]http://cpcrulez.fr/book-communiquez_avec_votre_amstrad__AMAG.htm
It's a French book, but the only book available on this topic. I'm particularly interested in the chapter on SSTV (Slow Scan Television) using the CPC.
If anyone has a copy they'd sell (or scan) I'd really appreciate it :D
Steve
Are there still people transmitting slow scan TV??
Bryce.
Hey Bryce,
Yes, still a very popular (if archaic) mode. We also now have digital SSTV (aka Easypal or DRM) :)
Steve
Of course there are : from my point of view, the whole cpc freaks population is concerned ! :)
It's all a matter of computing power, Bryce : do you seriously envision using your CPC for
MPEG-4 or
MPEG-2 encoding/decoding ?
On the opposite, the onboard
AY-3-8912 may probably be used as a poor
DAC for signal modulation of (low scan) analog TV. I think that is what this book is all about.
On the other hand, the tape input would serve on the other direction, but I do not see where the computing power for
ADC will be found. :-[ This is all the mystery of this vintage book is about... they did it back in 1986 !!! :o or do they ?

Well MP3 on CPC already can be done. [nb]http://www.cpcwiki.eu/index.php/FuturePlayer[/nb]
Well, TFM... I'm quite sorry but I see you're talking about some hardware add-on here ?
Considering you have used the (numeric) printer interface, I have to deduce that all the Digital-to-Analog processing is effectively done by the expansion board, not the CPC ?
That seems a great job, for sure,... but what for ? a PC with its sound card is much easier to find and use for this job ;D and you could interface it to the CPC through the printer interface too...
On a other hand, you're probably right with the idea that the author (of the book we're talking about) probably interfaced vintage DACs or ADCs to the CPC in the old days.
Whatever, I think the
AY-3-8912 idea on a bare CPC is still possible for SS analog TV. We'll have to check this idea with
@Targhan I think !

No, I don't envisage anything. I was just interested to hear such a phrase from the past. I was interested in slow scan TV a loooong time ago. I made a PCB back then to connect a receiver directly to my analogue oscilloscope so that I could view slow scan TV pictures on the scopes screen.
Bryce.

If you're intrested in selling, very intrested in buying please, many thanks
Do you still want that AA72 magazine as well?
Yes please..

Yes please..
Please drop me a PM and make me an offer for them.
Bear in mind that the magazine will have to go in a separate envelope (it's smaller than the book) and it will cost a few quid to post the book as it's bloody heavy!
