Title: Amstrad CPC on the Android
Post by: Jahrome on 22:49, 30 December 10
Hi guys !

You may have a look at

http://code.google.com/p/andcpc/

It's a port of the gp2x version for android. It requires a physical keyboard though...

Regards,

Hello mate - and welcome!

This is a fantastic New Year present! I got my Desire HD last week (Xmas present...) and was asking if there were any projects - and then yours comes up!

I don't have a physical keyboard, which is a real bummer; the opening options give a hope that it can be worked with soft keys, but I guess this is not the case. Also, the emulator's menu sreen (not the Android options controls) appeared very slow and I tried to reboot my phone. After a few seconds it was as if the phone woke up and executed all my commands in sequence.

But, a great start! Thanks... :)

Btw, the GP2X doesn't have a physical keyboard; so...?

Thanks again!

Great news, although I don't own this kind of machines. But I find very important for the CPC to be present everywhere and to have emulators and tools on all the new systems (phones, tablets...). So thank you for support!

The thing is, modern devices (such as my Desire HD) are quite powerful and perfectly capable of fully emulating those machines... so it's kind of an ideal platform. Looking forward to new versions!!!

I didn't know they were that powerful - I got my Mrs one for Xmas and might have to 'borrow' it now!

That's true, but it has a decent 6 buttons joypad. A virtual keyboard is used to circumvent the lack of physical keyboard (see the video on google code page or on my blog here (http://jahrome.free.fr/)). I am working on enabling soft keys on AndCPC, I don't already know if multi touch will work which may be a show stopper. I might release a new version soon.

My Android doesn't have a keyboard :-(

I think an emulator would need to have auto-RUN on .DSKs and also joystick control via the trackball, with fire being the Phone or Back button. Other Android phones may differ, or they might not have a trackball, thus necessitating an on-screen joystick.

Great stuff!! An emulator with a great future ahead of it!

Unfortunately it freezes on my beloved HTC Desire (With no keyboard - is this normal)!

Maybe I am doing something wrong :-(

Auto run is already available through the file run.txt   (/sdcard/app-data/net.jahrome.andcpc/run.txt).  help.txt is also a good   reading :)

A beta soft keys version is available for download. Please report bugs and enhancements.

Could you report a bug with logcat output if possible ? I know it has tendencies to crash while being in frontend mode for unknow reason at the moment :( but no crash in the emulator mode hopefully :)

It doesn't crash on my Desire HD, but it slows the universe down to a halt...

Why would you mention multitouch?

Best thing would be to b able to use the normal on-screen keyboard, but I realise it's wishful thinking and it'd require lots of hacking...
