Well, this is a bit awkward... :)
I signed up for the forum over a year ago to ask about the CPC version of Frak! (http://www.cpcwiki.eu/forum/games/games-that-weren%27t/msg79153/#msg79153) that I'd found mentioned in an advert, but I never got round to introducing myself. ::)
Anyway, my experience with the CPC was back in the 1980s when a friend switched from an Acorn Electron to a CPC 464, I think, though he certainly had a 6128 later on. I was still using an Electron for many years, so it was interesting to see the sort of games he had access to. These days, I'm fairly active on the stardot (http://www.stardot.org.uk/forums) and Retro Software (http://www.retrosoftware.co.uk/forum) forums and, because I feel sorry that the Electron was such an underappreciated machine in comparison to its peers, I make games for it every now (http://www.retrosoftware.co.uk/castleraider) and then (http://www.retrosoftware.co.uk/junglejourney). :)
Welcome! For last year!
Your games look cool. :)
Welcome. As a "closet Elk fan" I still have a fully loaded Acorn and a few BBCs in my collection too :) As many others here also have.
Bryce.
Thanks for the warm welcome and the compliments about the games. :)
Welcome! I have seen your games on retro software website and stardot.
Our first computer was a BBC b. I also used a electron at primary school.
They are both nice machines.
Better late than never mate, so, welcome!
Your games look really cute and very retro, can we hope to see a port or an original CPC title?:)
I've never done any Z80 coding so I don't think I'll be porting them myself! :)
The 6502 assembly source files and original graphics are available for any bilingual programmers who want to try to port the game. However, I think it would probably be easier for an experienced programmer to just look at the original code for inspiration and write CPC versions from scratch, improving the graphics at the same time. It would be nice to see ports of any of the Retro Software games for the CPC machines.
I live in hope someone writes Frak! on a CPC, without realising it. :D
Maybe it should be cloned in true 80's style and called "Kraf" ;) you don't need the original authors permission then lol.
Hi and welcome to the forum dboddie.
