Title: Best way PC -> CPC transfer
Post by: John Mitchell on 16:18, 16 September 13
Hi,

I've just dug out my 6128 and would like to transfer some DSK images over to it.  I'm not planning to transfer lots of stuff, just a few games that I currently have load from tape.  What's the cheapest way I can do this, I don't want to buy loads of expensive kit!  Things I have that may (or may not!) help:

Mac and Linux laptops which can be booted into DOS or Windows if needed (none with parallel ports sadly and I understand USB->parallel won't work)
USB 3/5" floppy drive
USB Floppy drive emulator (generic one, not a HxC)
720k floppy drive in a PPC512 that could be removed temporarily.

Thanks,

From the PC side, you can format a 720K 3"1/2 floppy disc and put a DSK file on it.
From the CPC side, you can use the Arkos tools that are able to read the file from the PC floppy and write it as a real 3" floppy or 3"1/2. :)

Excellent! I've been using an utility to copy stuff from 3,5" disks to 3" disks in the CPC. Have to try the WriteDSK out.
