Hi, I'm intrigued by this instrument?/synthesiser?/sound effect? which comes in around 35 seconds into this song:

and has this flow-on effect with the ability of changing notes whilst producing some in-between note I guess you could call it. Because I've heard some interesting tunes on the CPC I wondered if that sort effect could be produced and how you'd go about doing something like that if possible?

The piano attack is really Korg. Now the sound you are looking for I'm not sure. I think at a Synth Pad or Strings (synth as well) with some light wheel modulation on it (vibrato), but of course the fx can be done by other studio hardware.

Yes the Korgis song dates back to 1980, think it was their only hit.
I checked out this Synth program from AA18 Type-ins (http://www.cpcwiki.eu/index.php/Amstrad_Action_March_1987_Type-Ins) which gives you a Keyboard to play with. The Default settings seem to give you that constant flow sound without break and if you hold down key sequences it gives that double sound effect which the Korgis song has. The trick seems to be in the interchange between notes and adding a 4th key to the scenario and removing the 1st keypress.
I'm not 100% sure if the Amstrad is truly capable of reproducing, I guess it's up to the Keyboard which is being used, but it certainly helps having a 3rd Channel which seems to be critical for the sound change.
That seems to be just a strings sound with a chorus effect. You can do flange effects with the AY, but chorus... I don't think so.

Yes there's the Keyboard which produces that Stringy effect, though I was referring to the other sound which begins around 35 seconds into the song as some high notes, and plays pretty much constantly throughout the rest of the song though the notes scale down, I don't think it even plays those high notes for long before toning down.
I was using the Synth program from AA18, it was even in the Type-ins Booklet which came with AA76, which seemed to suggest it was capable of simulating that effect as it has that ability of holding down key sequences and moving into other notes, it's quite impressive for a type-in I thought, which is probably why AA put it into their Type-ins Booklet.
