I was just wondering if there was any page on here that lists various people involved in the current CPC scene and in various categories as to what they specialise in.
Just with the recent strong showing of CPC games such as Axelay's shooters and the remakes of R-Type and Bubble Bobble which might encourage more quality CPC games to be made I thought it might be useful to have a resource of people that someone may contact (with examples of their work) if they need help in a certain aspect of game creation for example if they're a good coder but need some graphics help with a project they could easily get in touch with someone relevant and ask. I'm mainly asking if there is such a list because I was wanting to discuss something with a CPC musician and I haven't got a clue who current CPC musicians are so if I was to look at the Music/Sound Effects section of a such a list I would hopefully find some people mentioned and including samples of their music and a way to get in touch with them (even if it's just a PM here if they're a member or their own website if they are not).
I hope some of that makes sense. I haven't slept much in days due to upstairs neighbour trouble so I don't think I'm particularly able to communicate too well at present.
We used to have an upstairs neighbor who would either get drunk and start flinging dishes out the window (true story) or drag furniture around in the middle of the night. We complained to the owner of the apartment but she wouldn't really do anything. When the tenant moved out the owner found the apartment destroyed to a large extend. There, biyotch!
Ahem. This is a good idea actually, but the way you portray it it would probably need active involvement/submissions from all those persons?

This is actually quite nice, but we'd need to create a wiki page first! :)
Or people could make their submissions here and then we could move the compendium to the wiki...

Isn't flinging plates / dishes part of the Greek culture? You should pleased that at least one person is keeping the tradition alive :D

we only need a category in the wiki which then links to our personal about pages?
True
What should the category be called? Then I will set it up!!

Tell me about it, my neighbour is a real noisy cow!
[attach=2]
I know, terrible joke but that's the closest I've got for a neighbour....
I think there's already a category for scene members. And still, it'd be nice to have everyone in one page, within sections (music, gfx, loafing around, stuff like that), and then of course links to each one's personal page?
@Bryce: it's braking them in front of you, not spinning them out the window. No wonder you got arrested that one time you visited a Greek tavern.
Quite right didn't notice this until I made the category Sceners ???
Anyway it's setup now...

Well, given that this category (http://www.cpcwiki.eu/index.php/Category:CPC_scene_members) already has 299 pages under it I think it'd be excessive to create a new one :D Mind if I delete it?
Of course this is a category, a page with the sceners who are able/willing to help and grouped into sections is a different thing...

Admittedly, I was throwing them in the window and not out, which is what really upset that waiter.
@Beaker: I think she likes you, the way she's looking over at you :) Have you two got a past?
Back to the real subject, yes, I also think it should all be on one page, just a link to user profiles would take months to find the talent / skill you were looking for.

Yeah.
Was thinking like a forum topic where the people can add themselves or others via posts and the initial post gets edited to include them perhaps. And sticky it in whichever subforum it is most fitting.

That's pretty much it though with some links to your website if you have one and maybe a couple small sample images.
If you really want to use this it would be very important to know, if the scener is still active. Maybe it would be possible to add this to the profile of each user an make it searchable for different purposes (Coder, Musician...).

Just take a look on the "Schneider list" !!! ;D
Such a system is to be found at PushNPop, right?
Never heard of it.
Get a steak and take a look at this:
Push'n'Pop | Amstrad CPC Demoscene | Users (http://pushnpop.net/users.html)

In a certain way, yes. But hanging around on PnP also not necessarily means that someone is active. Nevertheless he stays what he was: coder, musician...
That's sort of it I suppose (I was hoping to avoid having to join another site. I keep my regular sites to an absolute minimum these days due to time and the fact I hate the internet). It's still difficult to hear the tunes of CPC musicians though. Wish there was a youtube sample or something I can click just to hear the tunes and then see if that's the musician I'd like to talk to regarding a project. That YM player thing on that cpc-power site has been great to load up and listen to tracks from various games. Which reminds me. How come there seems to be a full soundtrack there for Turtles 2 The Coin Op when I only remember the game ever having music on the start screen? Even when running on 128k emulators.

This thread will explain everything; (I have linked to SyX's .dsk file, so it's not at the beginning of the thread)
Hidden music in "Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles : The Coin Op" & "Shadow Dancer" ? (http://www.cpcwiki.eu/forum/games/hidden-music-in-%27teenage-mutant-hero-turtles-the-coin-op%27-%27shadow-dancer%27/msg31741/#msg31741)
Ah thanks. I had hoped that file was to be the actual Turtles 2 with music activated. Curious to know if any of total's scene coders can take a shot at getting the music running without the supposed problems of why it wasn't in the first place.
So, I took a look at the PnP page, it's nicely done.
Should we proceed? If so, can I delete the newly-created category?
I think it could work both on the wiki and the forum; that is, have a wiki page with all the information put together, and a prompt to come to the forum and submit any details or discuss?
