This is odd ... why would anyone do that? They swamped various FB groups, have seen those posts in Atari and Amiga related groups all over.
12 minutes of video to say there are scammers out there?
Facebook still exists?? :o
But to answer your question thomas: That's what happens when you try to use a social media platform as a forum for anything more serious than pictures of the toast you had for breakfast or self-centred musings about the inflated opinion they have of themselves and their lives. It's like complaining about the level of vocabulary used in the big brother house / love island or whatever.
Bryce.
so you would suggest ignoring FB altogether? :-) Ok.
I think he's making a good point in the 12 min video. Stuff like that makes me sick though, now I don't trust anyone! :-)
It's a point made in 12 seconds. Normally if you know the Nate minimum about social media you just move on.

I'm just saying: You can try using a slurry tank as a swimming pool, but cocktails and a lie-low won't change it from being a slurry tank.

ok guys, I see your points here, SM sucks big time. However, this just makes no sense to me ... there seems to be real work involved creating those accounts, but what for? I mean, Retro Computing is a fringe hobby. So why the effort?
Is this just a scam or is it some kind of "social experiment" to show the toxiticity of the (mostly male) retro community?
But, what is toxic about us enjoying our retro computers?
nothing of course! :-) Sometimes my mind seems to go crazy ... however, it might be a trap of some sort, so take care! :-)
I don't use FB :D
What is Face Book? Does it run on CPC?

I'm not exactly a fan of fb and all that jazz, but this take seems like a stretch. There are AI spambots everywhere now and forums, which are also a form of social media after all, are not immune from them either. It's just it's much easier to keep them out, especially on small forums.
Indeed. And of course forums are social media, much older than Facebook. But with a basic security setup you avoid most of the sewage that appears on the wild west of Facebook.
Any FaceBook topic should start from "All Of Shame", and next can be moved to "Other Retro" if it's less stupid than the others. :-\
I actually laughed at this :D
