Greetings.
I have been a big fan of Amstrad since 1985. I saved enough funds to purchase the CPC464 in 1985 much to my wife's bewilderment. It lasted for some years before the monitor/power supply 'gave up the ghost'.
Today I use an emulator on my Linux machine for the times I feel a little nostalgic. I still refer to my User Manual (very well worn) and I still type in listings from several of the books I purchased back then.
Thank you for allowing me to be part of this Forum. I'm not sure how much I can contribute, but if I can, I will be happy to do so.

Welcome!
Welcome John!
Welcome to the forum!
Welcome to the forum, always good to see a new user!
What was the main thing you used the CPC for back in the day? was it a business machine, for games, or something else?
Welcome!
I share your sadness at the monitor dying. Mine finally gave out a couple of years ago. If you still have the CPC, it can be hooked up to a TV using a SCART cable adaptor these days, usually with pretty good results.
Welcome aboard! Good bunch of folk here, so stick around and join the party. ;)
Thanks to you all for your kind welcome. Much appreciated.
Keith56: Back then I mainly used it for games. Attempted a bit of desktop publishing for a short while but the old dot matrix printer took 15-20 minutes to screen dump a page... ouch. Then my friend purchased a 6128 and took over the printing. Other than that it was mainly games.
Zoe: Thank you for the advice but my old 464 died a long time ago. These days I use an emulator.
Cheers.

Which emulator(s) are you using under Linux?
Welcome
Good to see a Melbourneian here.

Welcome!
Good to see another Linux user. :)
My monitor is still alive, but seems to suffer from depression. (Dark image). Maybe I could cheer it up again by showing it some of the many many new CPC creations....
Welcome Johnno,
Another Victorian here...and quite a few Aussies on the forum. :)

Welcome mate, very nice to have you here :)
Welcome! That is a nice story :) If you still had the computer you could definitely repair it (if it is even broken), but I guess that it is a bit too late for that now... :-X
Sorry that it's a bit late, but welcome to the forum johnno56 :)
