Title: GAMES PIRACY: A WARNING FROM HISTORY from Digitiser2000.com
Post by: ComSoft6128 on 09:36, 20 December 18
Amusing article on the F.A.S.T. adverts carried in all the major UK computer magazines in the nineties, some of the comments from readers are also quite interesting.
I have to point out here that, back then, as the proprietor of a software business I never looked at (cough, splutter) any (nose gets bigger) pirated software :)

Nice article!

I enjoyed the comments a lot too.

Today, it's far easier and cheaper to buy games, but I do agree that "piracy" helped the industry a lot.

Sony wouldn't be the king of games today if PS1 games would have been impossible to copy. Now that they are in the dominant position, they want everyone to pay as much as they like to.

And in the end, it's companies' politics, as actual developers get paid their salary (sometimes very good ones) but don't anything if the game is a real hit.

Never understood the usage of the word 'piracy', never had a ship at home, no sailors either, not even sailor moon or mars. Seriously, they should have termed it 'duplication is a crime'. What would Orwell 1984 think about it?   I prefer my brave new world... 3" rulez!
