Title: Hello from an old games tester!
Post by: Rainbirdrich on 21:18, 10 September 15
Hi,

Years ago I worked in the industry, back when the CPC was still current. I worked for TelecomSoft (Rainbird, Firebird, Silverbird) and then Mirrorsoft (Mirrorsoft, Image Works, PSS) and tested and project managed a few CPC releases back in the day.

Glad to be here!

Welcome. Can you remember some of the titles you were involved with?

The Rainbird titles that every CPC owner had to own were Art Studio and Advanced Art Studio. Both superb art packages with a windowed GUI that was very advanced for an 8 bit.

I got Advanced OCP Art Studio one day, nice handbook. Didn't know that there was a predecessor, but now the title makes sense. Also Starglider (great CPC version) hat the bird on the box. It was worth buying if for the great story book alone already.  :) :) :)

RainBird (Tony Rainbird founded it for BT?) made some amazing games never figured out why the Spectrum 128 version of Starglider had digitized music and the CPC6128 version did not

Welcome to the group!

I remember Rainbird with some fondness. Never had their Art Studio stuff (always wanted it, could never afford it at the time - I ended up making a lot of use of paint programs from AA covertapes) but The Music System was something I used on an almost daily basis.

Loved that program. :)
