Hi there,
following the Forum for years i have now chosen into joining it and to introduce myself.
I'm &2e years old and began my computing career early 1985 with a Schneider CPC464 with CTM640 for which i got at XMas a DDI-1.
Since Pirates got released it was expanded with a dk-tronics 256k-ram and the OS-ROM from an CPC6128 to play the game.
As playing Games got pretty boring over time i tried programming the machine with Basic, Z80-Assembler (mainly for transferring tape-games to floppy by hacking the loaders and also was more a treatment of the machine than programming), and, under cp/m with turbo pascal.
Early in the 90s it was replaced by an Atari 1040stf with TOS 1.02, followed in the mid 90s by a TT030 with Graphics Card and 32MB Fast-RAM. Fascinating, but noisy Machine, which was treated with Assembler and C and at least i got 2 Games programmed, GEM Peaks and the following Year, a conversion of Elite TNK which has to be stopped since the "original" had been problems due to copyright claims. In 2002 also these Machines were sent into retirement.
From 2002 to 2006 only using Windows-PCs and since 2005 running Kubuntu on my Machines. In my little collection are also an 1040STe with 4MB, a 6128 with CTM644, a Jaguar with CD-ROM, another 464 (but like my first 464 nearly dead), and Playstations from the beginning on.
In reccurring attacks of nostalgia the old machines got pulled out of retirement for some days, but mostly im using emulators (Winape, Hatari, Aranym).
(Bah, had my english gone bad, one hour of thinking for this few lines)
Thank you for your attention. ;)
Hallo und Herzlich Willkommen in Forum, ist lustig hier. Und die CPCWiki ist auch wirklich "erwachsen" geworden.
Man findet fast alles.
Hello Fessor,
and welcome!
Freut mich, dass Du den Weg wieder zum CPC gefunden hast...
Helloooo! :) Nice story that one of yours!
Hello and welcome! Thanks for your story - do you still have that TT? And what was GEM Peaks?

Yep, stowed away, but i still have it, and yes, GEM Peaks.
Too much love for the old machines to throw or give them away. They are not exchangable like PCs.
Willkommen Fessor. Immer schön, neue CPC Leute in der Nähe kennenzulernen.
Bryce.
