Hey guys - I've had this 464 in my collection for a couple of years now..
I've tried to research it in the past but never found out 100% what it is - the writing on the back where the ports are appears to be Spanish - so ive leant towards it being a Spanish prototype but I could be completely wrong... lol
Any ideas/pointers greatfully appreciated 8)

Well, the case mold is the one from a spanish 464, that's for sure. But the rest is all in english (it should be in spanish, and have the spanish keyboard), and the coloring of the keys is the one from the Scheneider version of the 464. Also the Amstrad logo is the later one, so this probably is one of those refurbished Schneider computers that were sold outside of Germany.
I've got the same CPC model but from Schneider, but it also has Spanish writings together with English ones.
This CPC was build in 1991 so I guess they just made the same plastic case for all sold models here, in Spain, in the U.K. etc...
You can open the case and look: It has date-stamps somewhere (round digits with a pointer showing: month, year)
Edit: I just see: Your 464 has "Ein" for power-led on.
This is the German label. So you have a 1991+ CPC 464. After end of 1990/start of 1991 Amstrad sold them in Germany under the Amstrad label, because they cancelled contracts with Schneider.
The PCB is the last version which fills only half of old PCB's place.

Just to confirm, I have two UK 464s with low profile keytops that have spanish and english markings, so they used the same moulds for all top cases and just changed the graphics for different markets.
The early model with high profile keytops have only english markings.
Yep, as steve has said, the last of the 464 cases used the generic English/Spanish marking for the port connections etc.
I'm in Australia and we also got these cases, and these usually have the smaller main circuit board revisions in them.
My original low profile key 464 was the original English only markings.
So I believe the Generic marked cases coincided with the smaller main boards internally, all part of the cost cutting/saving for Amstrad I suppose.

Amstrad often refurbished various stock parts.
My very first CPC6128 despite being a "French" one is in QWERTY.
It was due to the high demand in some countries while the CPC somewhat failed in its home market compared to speccy or C64.
España and France were markets where Amstrad could really make it to the top peloton in 8bits category.
More in France than in Spain where the CPC was at the same level as Speccies and MSX I guess, while in France it was really far beyond his competitors (for the 8bit, that is).
Still, I miss the coloured keys of "normal" 464... or having those in Cyan (like 664) could really have been better too.
The 664 was always the more classy CPC, I wished the 6128 had those neat Cyan keys too. 8)
To have the casing display both English and Spanish markings was a clever move IMO...
