Title: Hi all!
Post by: Dan Hero on 16:40, 28 June 15
First of all, Rolling Thunder is my fave arcade game. It really is, it has it all: awesome graphics, a spot on soundtrack, a great main character and some sinister foes. Ah, and a damsel in distress to save.
In Italy we had a local edition of Zzap!64. It was simply called Zzap!, and it covered all 8bits, not just the Commodore 64.
In 1988 all I wanted was said computer. Hell, here the c64 was HUGE, it was the only one. But in the February 1988 issue of Zzap I saw this advertising:

"what is this Amstrad? There's more color, the doors are actually doors and not black holes in the wall, there are balustrades too!"

Yeah, Rolling Thunder on Amstrad CPC was dire too, but that's not the point. The point is, that was the day when I fell in love with the CPC and its colourful world. I never had the computer, since it was unknown in italian computer shops, but I always venerated it. Savage, Gryzor, Operation Wolf and many more games mad me really envious, and a bit proud to secretely love Alan Sugar's masterpiece.

Now I have a XG4000 and I'm here, after reading the article in the latest Retro Gamer, hoping to get one of Gerald's excellent C4CPC in his next stock. Amstrad is awesome, and I'm really glad to be here in this community.

Have a nice day ;)

Hi @Dan Hero (http://www.cpcwiki.eu/forum/profile/?u=1443)

If you do get a C4CPC, you'll be happy to know that you will be able to play " Rolling Thunder " on your GX4000, as I've converted it.  :D

Yeah, it was the very first game I checked. It must have been some kind of imprinting, that advertising was my introduction to the Amstrad world :D

Welcome!!

It was nice to read your story :D. The Amstrad was my first and only 8 bit computer but I was always a bit jealous of the Spectrum users, not because of the computer, but because of the great community they had in Spain back in the 80s, with lots of support and even a dedicated monthly magazine. I was very happy to have colorful games but I was missing some help as well, there was no Amstrad community in my city or a nearby place.
