Post by: omen999 on 11:48, 28 January 25
I'm living in France and I bought my CPC 464 in october 1984
(one of the first available in the country)
I have a vortex sp512 too.

Wishing you the best for 2025

Welcome friend. Do you still have the same CPC from back then? Even the vortex?

Yes, absolutely

To me, those Vortex memory expansions were some next-level tech back in the days and I remember gazing at the adverts in german magazines, admiring how complex and sophisticated those things looked. Some years later I wondered what you would actually use them for. IIRC they work quite differently from e.g. DK'Tronics expansions. So, do you remember how you used yours? What was great about it and what was not?

Oh yes, the Vortex expansion...

- BASIC programs up to 300 KB
- 256 KB printer spooler
- CP/M with 6x KB TPA
- Lots of custom programs from Markt und Technik for it
- Lots of serious software for it

Sadly different to the banking of the CPC6128 though.

Yes very sadly and I gave up it for this reason.
But now, I have free time to research some stuff for this card
