I was just thinking, what is the biggest possible DSK or HFE file you can create? And how to create it?
HFE files can reach hard disc size. But you need drivers on CPC side for it.
DSKs of 704 KB I use on a regular base (Vortex format).
Well, in terms of more-than-normal number of tracks and such tricks I'd say about 200+KB?

Well, if you convert a Vortex DSK to HFE, you already have 704 KB free space. Or did you mean MB?
KB. I meant without a need for special ROMs etc, working out of the box.
Guess you mix things up here.
Ooh the mystery.

Depending of your physical support but DSK can theoricaly handle 256 tracks * ((256*256)-512) bytes * 255 sides.

Which is roughly 4GB if I calculated correctly.
