Hi

I have a badly damaged CPC 464 case that I decently restored with lots of epoxy but I now need to paint it properly...googling indicates the color of the case as RAL 9004 signal black... but case top and bottom have different colors, my guess would be that eventually 9004 is the bottom while top is more of a grey tone. Does anyone know the exact RALs for top and bottom?

I compared it to the "RAL K7 classic colour fan" and the closest i could find is RAL 7022 (umbra grey)

I'll check tomorrow in sunlight just to be 100% sure

RAL 7010 (Tarpaulin grey) might be even closer.

Really hard to say as the CPC case is not perfectly smooth and there is always some reflection. Depending on the angle and the reflection one time 7010 and another time  7022 seems to be the better fit.

Thank you, that was really useful. I see that antracite grey is not particularly close and that's unfortunate because that RAL is very easy to find ready made while the other RALs have to be ordered :(  I may still give a try to antracite and see how it looks - a can for plastics costs only 5 euros.

It will anyway be noticeable as you won't be able to recreate the surface structure of the CPC.

Anthracite grey is what I usually use for expansion cases. Imho it sometimes looks even better if the expansion case has a slightly different colour from the CPC. And for internal GOTEK replacements I even vote for black colour as it looks weird if the drive bay is covered in a similar colour to the rest of the case.

I've tried anthracite grey as the can was really cheap, actually result is not bad... it looks different (as clearly seen comparing two cases - above is the painted one) but much better than a discoloured original one. I may order a RAL 7020 if I find a good deal but for now will do. The bottom of the case instead is most definitely a 9004 signal black. It's just identical.
