Good evening,

I'm from germany and passed the age of 50.
You won't belive...I collect old homecomputers
from different companies.

Even, when I missed the time "back then", I own a CPC6128 since many years. But interest in different brands varies. It came, that I packed the CPC away for a Commodore 128.
Let's say, we did not get friends...

Since some weeks, I own a RSF3. The second 3.5" drive
is reactivated, a Gotek is on its way and a Dadanator too.
Everything is fine, isn't it ?
Well almost...
It would be wonderful to have a CPC working horse, wouldn't it? Just switching on and start working...

But "lack of memories", prevents me from making the right desicions.
What kind of killer applications is a must have?
And - even more important- work with an 'up to date' machine? In " DOS " mode ! and working with RSF3.
Word processor, drawing/painting/"CAD" programs come to my mind. A "Music tracker" if available. Maybe "C" or "Pascal" too. (I don't think I will ever manage assembler...) What about all the different |RSX Roms?

Questions and even more questions...

I was suggested to register here.
I even managed the entrance question...
How many bits has a 464 .... ::)
German beer inside a CPC is a strange idea...
64 x 8 x 1024 was wrong either...Well here I am,
I finally did it.

One important thing left. Even if my English hopefully reads well. Please remember that English is not my mother tongue. It will never be my intention to be rude or impertinent. I am grateful for any comments if something seems strange or sarcastic in my posts.

Greetings

Steven

Wilkommen im CPCWiki!

I think english is not the  other tongue for many of us, so don't worry.

Wir können auch Deutsch, aber es ist schon lange her, dass ich es gesprochen habe ;D

What about all the different |RSX Roms?

You will find Turbo Pascal attached (start with |CPM)

For a Music Tracker you can take a look at StarkOS 1.2 for example.

For the other questions about "killer applications" I leave it to others.  ;)

I don't know about "killer applications" but a "CAD program" would sure be overkill for CPC :P

Thank You.
But that is the dangerous point. If ones english sounds
good, people expect that he knows what he is saying.
For example, the english word "sympathy" is the absolute opposite of the german meaning.
I learned it the hard way.
And there are many, many more situations to struggle.

In general we don't have many issues with people not speaking English very well. Misunderstandings arise from time to time but are quickly resolved when everyone's friendly.

If you don't feel so secure about it, you can add a disclaimer to your signature, but really I don't think it's necessary🙂

Thank you all, for the warm welcome.
This will be an interesting journey.
I don´t know very much (jet) about the
Amstrad machines (well, a bit on user level at least).
My programming skills are very limited. In fact,
its limited to the Arduino derivat of C++.
But maybe I can help the community with
3D Cad or translation into / from german.

Lets see...
