New to the forum and just thought I'd explain a little why I've joined and just to say Hello!!!

My original computer was an Amstrad CPC 464 with only a green screen, would have been nice to get the colour version but the paper round didn't pay that much back in those days.
I've been wanting to pick one up again for many years, but unfortunately she who must be obeyed was always dead against it.
Finally though after many years of persuasion I've managed to pick up a 464 plus so am looking forward to collecting some classics over the next few years.

I had a quick search around for active CPC forums etc and found this site yesterday and haven't stopped reading it since.
So thanks to all for the very helpful guides especially the 464plus conversion by Bryce, if I can get all the parts I'll be giving that a go for sure.

I'll be slowly downloading the magazine archives as it would be good to have a copy of them again so I've made a small donation to the site since I know how expensive it can be to keep things like this going. Sorry it's not more but I'll do my best to make regular contributions.

Bryce

Welcome to the forum.

I still have several µPD765, SED9420 and the other hard to find components for the conversion. So if you are having problems finding the stuff, let me know and I can supply them.

Bryce.

Gryzor

Hello and welcome!

Really nice that you joined us and I hope you have a nice journey down memory lane without being run over by the bus named "significant other". (hey, did you know that Tiffany's also sells stuff that's more down-to-earth?).

Also thanks for your donation, I've added you to the contributors group and gave you a little medal, just because. I really appreciate it :) You can download all you want (hope you have spotted the Downloads section at the top of the forum!). Alternatively, if you have a slow line I can burn them onto DVDs and post them to you.

Again, welcome, thanks, and have a nice stay!

Aquillae

Thanks for the DVD offer Gryzor but I have 100Mb broadband just wouldn't want to leech everything in one day when I've got plenty of time to grab little chunks now and then  8)

Gryzor

Hahaha yeah I guess 100Mb is enough to leech quite a bit :) Don't worry, we're on a fast enough pipe with unlimited bandwidth, so go ahead... Well, the advantage of the DVD would be that you wouldn't have to download each issue separately though!

Hi! Im new too  :)

I see you're also from Wales  8) , where abouts are you from?

Everyone is really nice here and lots of interesting material to read. What games did you used to play on your 464? I have so many duplicates so once I've sorted through them I will be putting them on ebay (but will put them on here first if anyone wants them!)

(Edited because the writing was so small I couldnt read it  )

Aquillae

Hi Lynwen,

I'm originally from Aberdare but live just outside Cardiff now. What part of Wales are you from?

Where to start with games I used to play, had hundreds of them.

Some of the ones I remember

All the Dizzy games
California Games
Daley Thompson's decathlon (broken a few joysticks with that one)
Impossible Mission
Knight Lore

Could probably keep going but I think you get the idea.  :)

What type of games did you play?

lynwen

I have lots of games that I used to play but funnily enough none are on the wiki games list so cant have been that popular?

The amsoft games spannerman, roland in time, roland on the ropes, punchy (my dad loved this game!), oh mummy!, electro freddy (just bought this, fab game!)

also used to play those educational ones when I was really young, happy letters where that crocodile eats the fish if you get the answer wrong! oh and wordhang

Jut got Pipleline2 today, another one we were addicted to! And the apprentice.

We also had a game called feud but never got the gist of that game

how could I forget haunted hedges!!

our all time favourite was a mole and we knicked named him monty moley, he flew an aeroplane. I think the name of the game was german? I've got monty on the run which looks to be either a prequel or sequel?

Thats it! what does auf wiedersehen mean? something to do with an aeroplane?

TFM

It means 'Good bye' or 'See you'.  :o

The intro to Auf Wiedersehen Monty is one of my favorites. Not only is the tune very catchy and nice, but little Monty dancing about is so cute....

Lynwen, unfortunately the wiki is still very incomplete in terms of games covered, unfortunately; but if you feel like it, do write a review or something on a game you love :)

TFM

Don't remember the name now... there was an older demo in which Monty does crush the commodore symbol. I liked that the most  ;D
