Title: Newbie from south glous
Post by: Mattcpc on 22:10, 02 December 24
Hi all, I've decided to take the plunge and get a 464, I last had one with about 300 tapes I sold for peanuts in the early 90s.
I just picked up a 464 with a few games in very good nick and a colour screen. I'm amazed that the cassettes are still working after so long.
A lot of old computers/consoles suffer from cap leakage and i was wondering  if anyone has experianced this and if its worth recapping?

Welcome!

I honestly haven't seen a recapped CPC ever. Most problems are the belts in the tape decks and disk drives, dust in the keyboard membrane, and surprisingly common, the On/Off switch, which gets dirty over time and may need cleaning.

Cheers,
Rob

Welcome! A wise decision, have fun :) And, as @robcfg said, no recapping necessary really...

Many thanks both, I'll hold off the recap in that case, i did head that they were built to last to save servicing costs. I've brought belts and rollers for the tape drive but currently running fine so leave that for a later date.

Hello :)

I'm sure we've all sold things for peanuts, I sold my Amiga 1000 with 1.5mb RAM for £150 (bitterly regret that to this day) in 1992.
