Has anyone bought one of these? Is it over priced or is that how much they cost? Please advise!

Yes, I have one of those for my CPC464. Works great.
That's a bit more than I've seen them at before, but that's the proper guy who makes them, so that's the going rate.
When I looked at them before (maybe a year ago), it was about £65 for the uncased version, so £27 for a cased version isn't so bad if you want a case for it. A lot of people fit them internally to whatever machine they're being plugged into too.
Oh yeah, I don't know the specifics because I've never owned one, but I remember reading you need to set some jumpers correctly for use on the CPC or you might damage it. Also, I see you're also looking for a DDI-1 interface - you should be aware that this is powered by the FD-1, not the other way round, so you'll need to modify that too.
Th new slim version look more affordable and enough, as you can manage files from the CPC screen!
(a cased version will come later)

Nice :) I have an uncased one and a cased one and they are fantastic. I like the look of that new one though, the sd card slot looks a lot less flimsy but I don't get how it works with multiple disk games with only one button?
Edit: Oh, just saw the video - got to be worth considering with the difference in price if you don't want the LCD screen :)
Yeah, the slimmed-down version looks nice, but to tell you the truth, I love the screen. very geeky and all.
It is, and it doesn't constrain you to just using the software to load in the games, and I'm not sure how annoyed I'd be accidentally hitting the button twice then trying to work out the position of the disk I wanted was in the list of slots :)
The screen version is expansive and more a useless nerd feature that need to destroy a 25 years old computer case to embed it... As all files manager allow to CAT or DIR the content on the computer screen.
Fair point if it's done in a way where the modification isn't completely reversible but if it can be, or if it's done in an external enclosure, or the machine case is in a poor damaged state I still think it's a nice feature :)
boyfriend said no.
Is it his money??
Why not go for the non-cased version? It's a lot cheaper and you can easily make a case for yourself.

Yes ;)
I will have to wait a couple of months to use my own money.
But you know the saying, whats his is mine and whats mine is my own
Spoken like a true cat.
The uncased version is just as good, really, just make sure you place it on some sort of foam instead of placing it directly on the drive (mine was already shipped with a nice rectangle of anti-static foam which I used).
