Title: Who can copy a disk for me?
Post by: Gryzor on 19:09, 29 March 11
Hello guys,

Today I tried to connect a 3" drive to my PC in order to do some copying. I have done it several times before with no problems, but it just doesn't seem to work with my new motherboard.

What I want to do is have a working copy of Discology, since this it only works from Drive A and I can't load it from HxC without operating on my CPC. So, is there anyone who could make a copy for me if I sent you a 3" disk?

Thanks in advance,
Themis

Hi Gryzor.

Yep, my first post here, and an offer of assistance. I am 99% sure I can do this copy, if you can send me the dsk file. I will even supply the 3" disk (I have a few kicking around)

But, just as a question, why can you not use software such as xexor to copy from hxc to 3" floppy?

Hello Jason!

First of all - thanks so much for your kind offer. Of course I'll take all costs involved and will send you the disks too (if you want to sell some to me, fine, but I can't take them from you for nothing...).

I did try several copying tools, but none of them liked running from Drive B (which is how my HxC is set up). I don't remember if I've tried Xexor, but will give it a go and if it fails I'll get back to you.

Thanks again, mate!

Try Xexor first. At the command prompt type:
driveb,a (b->a)
drivea,b (a->b)
copy

You can also use the menu by pressing dot (num pad), but the shortcuts are more comfortable I think.

I thought, to copy from b to a, you had to use:
drive b,a
backup

Perhaps backup and copy are both valid keywords :)

However, again from memory, xexor is not totally happy with Parados (at least, it wasn't on my 6128+).

Anyway, good luck, but if you need it bobbing onto a floppy, let me know!

Thanks once more. Among other things I managed to lose my write-enable pin, so I dug out my external drive to do a transplant. So I'll try it when I have the hardware in order :D

Hi Gryzor,
If you PM me your address and tell me which version you require, I will get it sent probably today. It'll save you messing around!
Thanks,
Jason
