Title: Win98 compatible dsk image writer?
Post by: protek on 01:53, 20 November 12
Is there any dsk image writer that's compatible with Win98? CPCDiskXP, as the name suggests, needs XP and my meager Compaq Armada 1700 just cant' cope with such a horde.

Windows 7 on Compaq Armada 1700 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MuaboztexWM#ws) .

Runs on even lower-spec machines AFAIK, and I think CPCDiskXP works.

That's awesome!  :o  And it doesn't appear ridiculously slow either. Is it a special install?

I don't recall right, but I think it's just a normal installation. Obviously you'll miss out on things like the Aero interface, but who cares.

You could also try one of the 2003 Server editions, there are a few that have lots of stuff removed and I can tell you from personal experience they were very light and fast.
