Hi All,
I have a GX4000 that it did not survive a 128KB mod; a couple of traces have been lifted from the PCB <> ASIC.
Anybody that does this sort of repairs, please give me a shout (ideally from the UK)!
Cheers
Argh, this sure is a discouragement for me to venture into the 128k mod that I had been delaying. Tell us more, how did you manage to lift the trace? So we could avoid a similar fiasco..

When doing a piggy back mod I can't imagine that his happens. The biggest risk when doing the mod is that you create a short on the ASIC pins. But with a multimeter you can make sure that this hasn't happened.

Solder blob on the legs of the ASIC, desoldering wick to remove it, crappy amstrad PCB and traces are lifted...
