Hi All

I have a MegaFlash Basic 1.1 Problem
I flash Slot 0 with Basic 1.1 (80)
When I put the Megaflash on my 464 and move the 0 jumper to ON
The machine Boots, Clears screen and either stops or cycles around ? etc

I also put Parados in Slot 7 This WORKS when I move the 7 jumper to ON

Any help would be Appreciated
I Have also tried this on a second Megaflash. Same result ?

Thanks.  Ray

I maybe wrong, but I think BASIC 1.1 only works on a 464 if it has come from a 664 and not a 6128.  :-[
* Using the old Amstrad Languages :D   * with the Firmware :P
* I also like to problem solve code in BASIC :)   * And type-in Type-Ins! :D

You must have the Firmware and the BASIC matching to work properly.
- FW 1.0 + BASIC 1.0
- FW 2.0 + BASIC 1.1
- FW 3.0 + BASIC 1.2 (display 1.1)

Hi Amsdos

The 664 Basic Rom did not work ?
so I put the BASIC464.rom in slot 0 and The 464 Rom also did not work ?

Are there any tests I can do to get this working.
Thanks.  Ray

Hi Ray,  :-[

@TotO has more likely suggested the correct course of action which involves including the correct Firmware version.

You need a LowerROM board or similar to change the Firmware in the CPC to the 6128 Firmware. Then you can use BASIC 1.1 on a 464.

Hi Bryce

what if I flashed the chip in my PC with just basic and FW3.1.x .
Would that work without the LowerROM Board ( The LowerROM boards are being made in china at the moment) ?

Thanks.  Ray

The MegaFlash can't replace the LowerROM, you'd have to remove the ROM from the CPC Mainboard and program an EPROM with the Firmware and BASIC. Or wait for those PCBs to arrive.

Bryce.

@Bryce

Ok Thanks I will wait for the Boards..

Exactly. The BASIC does CALL to the Firmware routine that have to match the good addresses entries to not fail.
Remember that original Amstrad ROM circuit is 32K (OS+BASIC) not 2x16K ... It is why the X-MEM always switch them together.

I tried Tot0's Files and No Success.
I will have to wait for the Lower Rom Boards.

Thanks all

How can you try my files w/o the LowerROM board? The Firmware must be on it.

Ok. This is what I did.:-

Using your files I Made up a file (On a PC) with the following.

For Slot 0   &0000   to   &3fff   BASIC12.ROM (80)

For Slot 7   &1,C000 to  &1ffff   OS6128.ROM  (01)

The rest is filled with FF's.
I then flashed the chip (on a PC).
Put the chip in the megaFlash operated both switches to the Right ( 0 ON and 7 ON )
Plugged it into a CPC464 to see if it would work ??
No Success ?

I thought that that would work in a 464 ?.

Thats what happened ?

The OS6128.ROM don't go to the ROM7 slot. It is not AMSDOS.
You have to add it under the ROM0. So, only possible with the LowerROM board with the MegaFlash.
