Title: CPC colour screen, powers computer but no display. No power to CRT
Post by: robsbots on 22:04, 22 August 22
Hi all.

I have an original Amstrad CTM644 colour screen. It powers the cpc, but the CRT does not power up and so nothing is displayed.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what could cause this fault ?

Thanks for your input.

(I haven't had a poke around yet. I know there are some  :o shocking :o voltages inside. )

Thanks,
Rob.

Beware there is high voltage in the monitor.
It can be deadly!!
first thing to check: the fuse.
But again watch out for the tube and the THT

I have two of these monitors, one works fine after wd40 on the brightness control inside, and another that needed the same treatment. But after having it on for half hour, the screen sort of warped everything into a diagonal line, compressing all of the text and going dark and no colour and then.. nothing... did you manage to get yours sorted? the insides of these things frighten the life out of me!

That sounds like a capacitor failed.
