Title: DIY ROM Box
Post by: zeropolis79 on 16:32, 26 November 17
Hi all,

I've just finished reading the last issues of Amstrad Action and it mentioned the Campursoft DIY ROM box.. Does anyone know if scans of these are in circulation at all please - I fancy giving it a bash..

Thanks!

Yes I have them.

I'll upload them to the wiki this week.

Thanks! Does it look difficult? I saw the scans of an ACU one and it looked very hard.

If that's the case, the Campursoft Board won't be for you either. The ACU ROMBoard is a very simple device.
Maybe you should start with some smaller projects to build up your skills.

I've not long managed to replace a Dreamcast battery with a new one plus installed a new holder..

My main problem is soldering..

Soldering is a major part of electronics. Buy yourself some cheap kits: http://www.velleman.co.uk/contents/en-uk/d2_kits.html and practise as much as you can. Building a ROMBox is going to involve a lot of soldering of sensitive parts.

I have uploaded the documentation I was given by Paul Collins.

This includes the instructions, schematics, connections and silkscreen.

I'm not good at the wiki so it's all in one big line. Would somebody change it into a gallery format for me please?

I did not realised that one was a DIY.
I've one (well 2 for a 16ROM configuration) in a big black box which does not really looks like DIY work  :)
