Hello all,
I have an (old?) internal gotek drive for my CPC6128 Plus. Everything works fine except for one annoying problem: I can't use more than one "slot" without going through the HXC program each time. Only the last .dsk file I choose in HXC is displayed on the GOTEK LCD screen. I tried to use the HCX v4 but the problem persists. Any idea?
I wonder where I can find an internal Gotek with a rotation button for my CPC+? It's much more convenient imo
Does your old one not have the pins for the rotary switch?
I just bought a standard new type on ebay for £30 with FlashFloppy.
Here are the files I have in the root of my USB drive, it's all I had to do to get it working perfectly.

I've shared the above link now ;)
Thanks, Finally I no longer use the HxC Floppy Emulator Manager software, and I simply configured my GOTEK which has an LCD screen to "normal". Everything works perfectly now.

Sorry I just discovered this thread.
Thanks for reporting this!
I'm trying to think of a scenario that could cause this behavior. I have never encountered such a result while using the HxC Manager. It's possible there's an edge case that isn't currently covered.
While running the HxC Manager program, are you selecting a slot by physically pressing the previous/next buttons? If so, that's not the expected workflow.
Instead, you should use
Control + Left/Right to select a slot (e.g., SLOT 1, SLOT 2, etc.). For each slot, you can assign a .dsk file.
Press the
S key to view the list of slots and their assigned files.
For more detailed instructions, you can access the embedded help by pressing the
H key.
Additionally, have you tried using the file HXCSDFE.CFG included in the HxCManager41 archive? You can find it here: HxC Manager v4.1 Release (https://norecess464.weebly.com/news/hxc-manager-v41-released). It might resolve the issue.
Finally, please note that it's the expected behavior for the last edited slot to become the active one in your drive after rebooting the CPC when exiting the HxC Manager.
If the problem persists, a video of your process would be extremely helpful for troubleshooting. Or at least, a photo of the Slot list while the HxC Manager is running.

Using the Gotek's internal software to navigate files is absolutely fine -- that's how I use it on the Gotek drives connected to my Amiga 600. 😊
However, on the Amstrad, I personally find it more convenient to rely on slots. They act like "bookmarks", allowing me to store my favorite programs for quick access.
I never had issues with 4.1 release, all slots worked fine. Only thing is that it allows 20 slots max but that's fine, you rarely need more. However, I did have the issue described here (https://www.facebook.com/groups/flashfloppy/posts/2557846737708877/) that was solved (answer in comments).
Here 4.1 also always worked perfectly. But I also never used a rotary encoder with the Gotek, so not sure if it's related to that maybe?
