Title: How to dump floppy disk to USB with a Gotek?
Post by: gf65 on 16:35, 17 April 25
I'm looking for a simple way to dump my Amstrad floppy disks to a USB key via my Gotek.
Should I use Discology or |cpm ? Somehow I'm struggling to get the Gotek to run as a 2nd drive.

Well, a step by step manual would be great, but I assume, it depends on each case.

Not sure how you want to copy to the Gotek if it doesn't work. What did you do and what problems appeared?

Discology is perfect to copy between real floppy and DSK in Gotek. But better is choose in program copy by Tracks not by files, and switch ABBA to external drive as B, and in program choose two drives. :)

Hi

When I use the S1 jumper the gotek works ok but I cant use the internal floppy drive of my 6128 CPC.
the gotek has the latest flash floppy v3.43
Is there something I need to do to access both the gotek drive and internal one so I can copy disks using discology?

I am sure that on external gotek you have an A/B switch, and if you set it to A then both drives are visible as A. You have to switch external one as B, then the CPC will see two drives.

If I remember right, Gotek needs to be jumpered as S0. Something is strange with your setup.

can you take a picture of your setup incl. the cable?

It might help identifying the issue.

(If you can't see an upload option, click on "preview" and then you can upload attachments/pictures)

Hi
I attached some photos. It's using chipset STM32F105
There's no A/B switch. I found an On switch.

Jumpers are M0,S0,S1,JB,JC,JA, and J5.

Is it work with off position?
Maybe this is A/B switch not Power. If off switch Gotek to B, you must type |b to make Gotek work.

If this not help, probably you have to change jumper, for example try without jumper, or move it to next position.
