Title: Possible Disk Alignment problem
Post by: simondo on 08:49, 23 February 22
Hi.

My FD-1 stopped reading disks with 'Disc Missing'. Pushing upwards on the front edge of the disk whilst in the drive results in change of tone from motor, disk being read and CAT ok.

What is the problem here?

TIA

When was the last time the drive belt got changed ?

Disc missing message can be a result of bad drive belt

Belt last changed at least 3 years ago but drive not used often. It looks ok but worth changing as you have suggested, thanks.

Not oftenly used is not improving the lifetime of those belts ...

At the end of the rod you'll normally find some accumulated grease, which is enough to grease a dozen of these rods.
Don't mix different kinds of grease, and don't apply too much, both of which is what you do if you apply anything else.
Normally there is no point to tamper with that. But that's just my opinion :)

I have taken some Vaseline or Silicon grease .. do not use Oil as it will get hard over the time.
