Title: Quiet sound from speaker
Post by: Mark_wllms on 07:31, 10 October 24
My 6128 is giving quiet sound from the speaker. At first the problem was intermittent and now it is constant.

The symptoms are:
Makes a brief hissing noise on power up which does away quickly
Volume control still works but max vol is very low
Sound through line out sounds normal.

I believe the most likely candidates are
1. Speaker
2. Volume control
3. IC302 which is a LA6358S SIP op-amp.

These three components only affect the sound to the speaker.

How would you go about triaging this further without replacing anything yet?

Maybe the capacitors became resistors after all.

Bottom right corner.

Hi,
I'd check for bad solder joints first. Speakers and Op-Amps tend to work properly or not at all, so they are less likely to be the problem. I'd also clean the volume potentiometer. Then next up would be the capacitors as already mentioned.

Bryce.
