We have been notified that (AMD) Xilinx are no longer making the XC9536XL/XC95144XL among many others

Discontinuation notice attached

This affects many hobby projects using this chip, including the Dandanator, Flaco boards with the noca$h logic for plus models, revaldinho 6 ROM board (those used the 5V version).

Also the XC95144XL was used with the C4CPC. Not to mention for other machines like the C64 PLC replacement etc. We are looking for suitable alternatives for our products

CPC464/GT64, CPC464 Plus/CTM640, 2 x CPC6128/CTM644

I would get too worried about it. You can usually get chips in relatively large (hobby) quantities for many years after discontinuation.

You can also use Altera EPM7032STC or the 64, 128 versions with any packaging and pin count you need, or even the Atmel ATF1502AS family, but the Altera is easy to find, the software is freely downloadable and the programmer costs a couple of euros. Anyway, it's unlikely the supply of XC chips runs out.

Wouldn't totally agree with this one. Try finding the XC9536 (the 5V) version. Yes they were EOL a while ago, but we used them on our boards before switching to the XL version, since they are only available in pulls these day. If you try and find the PLCC version (used for the 6 ROM boards) they were really expensive or pulls via Aliexpress

The other issue was that these were about $2.50 a few years ago and now selling $8 each. For hobby quantities it is probably okay (apart from C4CPC the 144 is $40 each)
