Ok guys, tried doing a search on this one and got nowhere...

With a C4CPC on it's way to me, i'm looking forward to hooking up a 3.5" drive with 800k or so of space to play with, seeing as ParaDOS will now be an option.
However, I'm trying to make a load of compilation 3.5" floppies. But some games either throw up read errors or else they crash upon loading.

A good example. Using CPCDiskXP, I've tried copying Midnight Resistance using Disk Editor and adding the files from the MR disk file. So far so good, all the files copy over. It doesn't make a difference if I use ROMDOS D1, D2 or D10, when I insert the newly made 800k disk image in an emulator and try to load it, it gets to the loading screen and then nukes with a reset. The game itself is fine, the disk works perfectly in the emulator, it's just copying the files over (it's cracked btw)

So am I doing something wrong here in regards making the compilations? Or are some games unable to load properly due to the different track layout?
Appreciate the help, as always, guys! =)
Currently playing on: 2xCPC464, 1xCPC6128, 1x464Plus, 1x6128Plus, 2xGX4000. M4 board, ZMem 1MB and still forever playing Bruce Lee.
No cheats, snapshots or emulation. I play my games as they're intended to be played. What about you?

Nevermind - problem appeared to be the interface between chair and desk.

Was a problem with the actual cracked version. Used Nich's version on cpc-power and no issues.
Looks like I'm gonna be checking a lot of these compilations before writing them to actual floppies!

Some cracks may not initialise additional ROMs (other than AMSDOS), which unfortunately means you won't be able to use them with ROMDOS format discs. Other cracks may also reset to drive A, which means that unless you have an ABBA switch, you won't be able to use them with your 3.5" drive.

Quick response to thank you for confirming this. I noticed that ParaDOS wouldn't run Kung Fu Master, Hoppin Mad, Red Heat and Hypersports (All cracked by Chainy I believe), but worked fine when I switched it off. What I might do is just copy some compilations those games feature in onto 3" format when the replacement belt arrives and be content with that, I've a c4cpc arriving so I'll be able to swap around the different system cartridges so it's no major biggie.

Have an ABBA switch for the HXC anyway, just in case 😃

Parados in slot 7 should run anything. As software that resets AmsDOS will infact reset parados. If you want 80 track drive a however you need to patch your parados rom first.

Appreciate the info, Craig.

For testing purposes, I'm using WinApe with ParaDOS in 80 track mode. Most of the games are running. Just a handful either reset, or throw up Parados v1.2 (c) 2015 Bitwise Systems message on the loading screen and go on a loop.

Could you be a little more specific regarding the ParaDOS rom patch, please? At present I'm using the System cartridge.cpr file, English, v1.3 (redbox), as I'll be using this in the C4CPC.
Cheers!

I still have cf2 or HxC a drives in all my cpc machines so have not performed this patch myself. I know others have... Anyone.?

I've a feeling that ParaDOS on the system cartridge is already patched because drive A can be configured for 80 tracks?

Drive a can always be configured for 80 tracks. The patch makes 80 tracks the default.

Ah I see... nothing really new, just added convenience then?

Yeah. Saves setting the drive up on each powercycle
