Amstrad DMP-1 Printer Ribbons

Hi all,


My original Amstrad CPC set up consisted of a CPC464 and an Amstrad DMP-1 printer. After many years of looking (Hard to find here in OZ), I finally bought one on eBay from the UK.


Now my retro original set up is complete. BUT, the ink ribbon in the DMP-1 was dead. I remember re inking this ribbon as a teenager using indian ink. Opening the ribbon, i found it almost intact, except a gromet on the spindal used to wind the ribbon was gone. So with some invesitigation I installed 2 rubber 4mm X 2.5mm gromets and now it was operating perfectly.


BUT, the rubber gromets are no good, the original part took ink from the well and transfer it to the ribbon, so it was not made of rubber, but some sort of cloth or sponge. So it was time to start my web surfing again, looking for ink ribbons. I found some on eBay from Germany, but they were very expensive and with shipping I paid over AU$100 for 2 


Since then, I have found a supplier in China of the ribbons at a reasonable price.
