If someone can provide me with these on disc/disk at the end of the competition I could then make a YT video showcasing them.

Any thoughts?

I guess it all depeneds on how many entries the CPC gets, the good news is partipicants have until 21st March to get their entries in (so it's still early days), with the awards ceremony the 4th April, which is when all the downloads become available.

Due to the nature of the competition, all the entries are submitted either Tape or Disk Image, unfortunately these days when I write something and test on my 6128, I convert it to a WMA file and Load it through my DVDs USB port like a Tape :( If you have a PC with 3.5" Floppy Drive, you could use a programme like DOS Copy on the CPC to Transfer the programmes that way, otherwise Divine Coding also created a programme on the CPC to Read DSK images called DSK-CPC, though it was made in the late 90s and it might only work on the earlier DSK images before they became Extended DSK Images.

Good to see a number of Amstrad entries making it into this years contest, I've been able to contibute 3 to the PUR-120 category:

Not The Scorpions

It's either the Scorpions or the Spike with this one, personally I think you've got more of a chance with the Scorpions, though it gets harder the more you progress.

Cross The Ferry

You play the Ferry Operator and it's your job to get the people across the Water and onto the other side, but panic in the people sets in, the more you get into this game.

Big Ma's House

Shoot the little White Men before they can drop a Bomb on Big Ma's House using your Big Fat Cannon with Tiny Lazer.

Yes.

Shall I ask the organizer?

ComSoft6128

Apologies,

I should have made clear in my original post that I can only record the CPC entries :(

logiker

Oh, that was clear to me anyway.
I mean, shall I ask the organizer for all CPC entries, so you can stream them? Maybe with disclosure agreement or so.. We'd see.

logiker

So, @ComSoft6128 ..
How is it going so far after I arranged the contact and you got all permissions?

ComSoft6128

Hi @logiker ,

I will email Gunnar this week.
Now for the problem - I am self isolating outside of Glasgow for the next 3 months and therefore am unable to make any new videos until at least then. However, I can assure you that once I feel it is safe to do so I will be back to Glasgow to create a video for this competition.
If anyone else can make a video sooner maybe that would be better?

One last thing, I already have a few videos uploaded to YT made a month ago which have not been published yet - they will be published in a week or so - so don't be confused by "new" ComSoft6128 YT videos - they are not actually new.

logiker

Thanks for the information.
It's good to know, especially for the organizers.
I hope everything is fine over there and stay healthy!

EDIT: The Results have come in with Downloads to be available at a later date! :( Personally out of the entries I submitted, I was surprised to see my least favourite entry (Not The Scorpions!) get a higher score than my other two, it's fun to play and fast with an endless limit of Stages to get through, unlike Cross The Ferry which is completable with it own set of stages, Cross the Ferry is a little tricky when the people get onto the Ferry and you start moving it because you could leave the person behind and falling into the water, it also lacked a display to show what stage you were at or how many people you had left which is a bit of a lifes left. Big Ma's House is a bit of a gag game (perhaps asking for a gag score), though uses Simple Animation Sequence to move the intruder. I thought it might of had some appeal for the Atari group.

I can imagine myself typing this for some fun back in the day :) It does lack scoring/level/lives info unfortunately but it's cute :)

AMSDOS

At the time of writing it for the BASIC 10-Liners Contest, I thought it would of had a better chance in the PUR-120 than being up against some arcade classic written in 10 Lines for the EXTREM-256, though like the EXTREM-256 category, PUR-120 allows entries to use alternative BASIC apart from the one found in ROM. As a result of that an entry from the PUR-80 category, which only allows entries from ROM in BASIC was shifted into the PUR-120 category instead of being disqualified, shifting my entry down one place!  >:(  I thought I asked them if CPC BASIC 3 could be used instead on their forum, but I dunno since the alternative BASICs on other machines run within those machine environments, rather than Crossing from another platform.

For Cross the Ferry, I didn't think scoring was important, it lets the player know how many people got across at the end of the game, the Lives & Stage thing I would have liked, but was out of space, in a sense the player gets 3 chances and if 3 people fall in it's game over, it just doesn't tell you though and while there's stages I may have left it out to give the player more of a surprise when the next stage commences and the people more a little faster.

@ComSoft6128 from your PM, the decision to use Joystick was also based on space (making sure each line was within 120 characters), because I was using JOY(0) instead of INKEY(##)<>-1, unfortunately these people play everything on Emulator and I have a tendancy of writing it on emulator, which regretably means I haven't tested proper with a Joystick, though having a sensetative Joystick myself and finding it impossible to Redefine Keys to Joystick on Raffaele Cecco games like Exolon and Cybernoid 2, I guess it would be annoying. :(

Gryzor

This is very nice for ten lines... It should probably be a little more difficult with single shots instead of lasers?

ComSoft6128

It's difficult enough as it is ;)

Gryzor

Nah, admit it, you're just crap at it :D
